Learning Highlights Primary 1A – 30th September 2022

This week we have been learning the ‘s’ sound. We made snakes using repeating patterns and carefully cut them out. It was great fun! In writing, we wrote our own sentences about what we could see in a farm picture. For Word Boost, we have been reading ‘Penguin’s Hidden Talent’ and we spoke about the talents that we have. We are getting very confident in listening for the words and explaining what they mean.

In maths, we have been doing different activities for Maths Week Scotland. We read the story ‘The Perfect Fit’ and we made patterns and objects using the shape tiles. We have also been learning the names of different 3D shapes. We now know how to write all the numbers from 0-9.

This week we learned about our sense of hearing and sense of sight. We played a sound game and we had to circle the correct picture on our worksheet. We listened to ‘Pirate Pete and his Smelly Feet’ and discussed smells we liked and disliked.

We have continued to enjoy spending time in our Optician Role Play Area.

Here are some of our personal highlights this week:

Vedansh – I enjoyed being Lead Learner.

Vasilisa – I enjoyed drawing.

Olga – I enjoyed writing.

Summer – I enjoyed practising ‘s’.

Lillian – I enjoyed playing the shape game.

Oliver – I enjoyed doing my writing.

Eve – I liked colouring in.

Miss Stebbing – I was very pleased with everyone trying so hard to write the number 8 and 9 correctly. I also enjoyed making patterns with the shape tiles at the maths table with everyone.

Congratulations to Summer who is this week’s Hot Chocolate Winner.
