P1A Learning Highlights 25th March 2022

This week we have been learning about the five cogs for Emotion Works.  We have sorted out cards to match up with the cogs and have been thinking a lot about words that name our emotions.  We enjoyed having choosing time outside on Wednesday when the weather was lovely.

Our seeds have now started to grow into seedlings.  We are very excited to see how much they will grow over the next week.  Then we will be able to take them home.

In phonics we have been learning the ‘oi’ and ‘ou’ sounds.  We have been practising reading words with these sounds and also spelling words.  In writing we have been learning about exposition texts and we wrote about which baby animal we thought was the cutest.  We are getting very good at remembering our capital letters and full stops.

In maths we have been working on our addition skills and using the games on Topmarks to help us.  We also did some more work on the greater than and less than symbols.

In RE we listened to a story about Jesus walking on water.  We coloured in a picture to show what happened in the story.

Here are some of our personal highlights this week are

Shay – I enjoyed going outside.

Zion – I liked playing outside in the sun.

Jack – I liked playing outside with my buddies.

Linda – I enjoyed doing the fairies with the buddies.

Caleb – I enjoyed making a tower with the loose parts.

Ollie – I enjoyed playing duck, duck, goose with all the buddies.

Aadya – I enjoyed playing in creative zone.
