Primary 7B Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Here’s an update for this week’s learning in P7B:

In comprehension and writing this week we have been learning about Haiku, Japanese poems of 3 lines containing 17 syllables.  We wrote about different seasons which is the original theme of Haikus but then we had a bit of freedom to write about other subjects too.

In maths we’ve been doing a bit of revision before our SNSA assessment next week, just to have a quick look at some topics we haven’t had a chance to visit yet this year.  We have also spent a bit of time on the West Lothian Sumdog Competition and I’m pleased to report that we managed to finish tenth which means the class wins a treat from me as a reward.  There’s also a special mention for Zain, Finlay, Faryl, Laiba, Adrian, Anya and Mereecia who completed all 1000 questions

On Thursday we held an assembly for P4-7 via Teams.  Our message was about respect and we shared some stories, drama and a cool song. We hope that everyone took something from our assembly and remember to be respectful to each other.

We managed to get outside on Thursday afternoon and we used our time to help tidy up the playground.  While we now have our snacks indoors to reduce litter and to avoid wasps in autumn, plenty of trash still makes its way into our playground.  We filled a couple of bin bags with rubbish using litter pickers and wearing our own sets of gloves.  The playground is now a good bit tidier than we found it.

Now we’ll hear an update from this week’s Lead Learners:

In this week we made bookmarks for our buddies for Scottish Book Week and we Joined in with the Sumdog Competition and placed Top 10.

Tuesday we had P.E. in the afternoon, it was all about team work with hoops, with a fun race at the end.

On Wednesday we wrote haiku’s and learnt all about them.

Thursday we went litter picking all around the school including the woodlands, also we had enough time to do free writing. We also had an Assembly all about respect, we worked really hard on it.

On Friday we were working on Perimeter and Area.

Xavier and Nicola

Have a great weekend everyone,

Mr McGurn & Primary 7B
