Just as Hamish McHaggis likes to travel to Scottish Landmarks we decided we’d visit one of the most famous-Edinburgh Castle and we can’t wait! Wrap up warm ,wear sensible shoes for walking as we are going to do lots, and remember your packed lunch and inhalers if you need one! We may even sneak a quick look at another wee landmark on the way ….i wonder if you know who this is?

P3 remember to get searching for a Scottish Costume!
We hope you have had time this weekend to rehearse and share our poem with your families? We are going to be practising in class again this week too!
This week in P3/4
This week we started working on our Multiplication. P3 started on the 2 times table and multiplying 2 digit numbers by 2. P4 revised the 2, 5 and ten tables and worked on the 3 times table and multiplying 2 digit numbers by 2, 3 and 5. This found this a bit tricky!
In literacy we started our reading groups again and working on becoming fluent. We worked on our grammar skills, remembering our nouns, verbs and adjectives and did a spelling test of our common words. Within our writing we also wrote about our Famous Scot, by using the information we had gathered for our Power Points. Then in topic we continued to develop our presentations. We found out that collecting notes and using them was a bit tricky too!
There was fun with Google Glasses on Monday and in PE we continued our Yoga, although we have decided to use Cosmic Kids Yoga site as this looks really good (see link below).
Olivia – I enjoyed doing our Power Points.
Evie – I enjoyed the Yoga.
Ellsie – I enjoyed the times tables.
Kyran – I enjoyed topic.
For homework we are learning the Scottish Poem, Street Talk by J.K. Annand, we will be reciting these in class on the 21st January.
Street Talk
There was a rammie in the street,
A stishie and stramash.
The crabbit wifie up the stair
Pit up her winda sash.
“Nou what’s adae?” the wifie cried,
“Juist tell me what’s adae.”
A day is twinty-fower hours, missis,
Nou gie us peace to play.
“Juist tell me what’s ado,” she cried,
“And nane o yer gab,” cried she.
D’ye no ken a doo’s a pigeon, missis?
Nou haud your wheesht a wee.
“I want to ken what’s up,” she cried,
“And nae mair o yer cheek, ye loun.”
It’s only yer winda that’s up, missis.
For guidsake pit it doun.

Our Visit to the Cenotaph
P6/7 joined up with P4/5 this afternoon to visit our local War Memorial. We looked at the statue and at the poppy wreaths that had been left on Remembrance Sunday. We also paid our own respects and left our class memento beside the other wreaths. We had a one minute silence and said some prayers.
Lest We Forget!
Rememberance Day in P6/7
Our whole school took part in today’s two minute silence at 11 o’clock. P6/7 spent the morning listening to The Last Post, learning about why it is important to wear poppies and discussing the poem “In Flanders Fields”. We know how important it is to never forget what others gave up so we could be free. May they rest in peace.
Gladiators and shield making today….in P4/5
Tam O’Shanter …Rabbie would be proud !
Robert Burns Celebrations in P4/5 this week …
This week in P3/4
In our topic this week we started to learn what happened to the Celts. We learned that the Romans came to the UK and took over most of England and Wales. We learned about Boudicca (Boadicea) and how she fought the Romans but lost. We continued with our weaving, but this was very hard. We painted our torcs and they look wonderful.
This week the children enjoyed ….
Robbie, Aiste and Liam – I liked the pantomime.
Ellie, Pheonix and Julian – I really enjoyed the fun day.
Alix – I liked painting the torcs.
Ross, Tapiwa and Jamie – I liked the weaving but it was really hard.
Lauchlin and Chloe – I enjoyed sharing our projects in class.
In maths P3 continued to develop their addition skills through adding and understand how to carry over into the next column of tens and units. P4 continued learning the 6 times table. We also continued our learning about symmetry and completed colourful symmetrical pictures for display.
Well done P3/4.
