As part of our Easter Enterprise Activities P4/5 will be selling Earth Hour Muffins to raise money for SCIAF this week at break times. Just bring along 50p and a yummy muffin is all yours!
16/3/16 Muffin Update! So proud of our stall pupils they raised £35:52 this week for SCIAF. Thanks so much to all the pupils and staff who munched their way through the muffins and donated money -you are brilliant!
This week in topic we continued to learn about how the people lived in Ancient Egypt. We found out that they had ovens, fridges and even toilets! Although not as we know them today. We also learned that Ancient Egypt got so big and wealthy that when they conquered lands they would take all the wealth from that country and bring it back to Egypt. This included gold, jewels and people! The people would become part of Egyptian society, soldiers, scribes or slaves. We also continued to practise our Assembly and get the costumes ready!
The children are looking forward to performing this on Friday 18th at 9:30.
In maths we started to work on 3D shape, revised the names of some shapes and started to look at the properties, including faces, corners and edges.
The children said this week …
Ellie – we learned that the Ancient Egyptians had ovens and fridges.
Niamh – we learned that there were toilets in Ancient Egypt.
Aiste – we learned about dividing by 7.
Fern – P3 learned about dividing by 2.
Liam – we learned about 3D shape.
Lauchlin – we learned that 3D shape is a shape that has a length, width and height.
Robbie and Aiste – 3D shape have corners, edges and faces.
Ross – I enjoyed making costumes for the Assembly.
Jamie – I thought the clip of Life in Ancient Egypt was really interesting. So interesting that I went hope and watched it!

After practising cave painting pupils then created their own cave paintings on the walls of our own cave. Some pupils taped paper to the underside of tables to see how difficult it would be to paint cave ceilings.
As before paint brushes could not be used!
P5 used laptops to go on a virtual tour of the Lascaux Caves and explore the cave paintings.

P5 pupils enjoyed playing the drums. With P6 away to camp there were enough drums for everyone to have 1 each!
P5 practiced cave painting. Stoneage man did not have paint brushes so P5 were not allowed to use brushes. The could only use the stick end of a paint brush, fingers, small pieces of leather, chalk and charcoal.
Another great day at camp! The attitude and behaviour of all is a credit to the school and their families. Staff have commented on how much they support each other and just get on with it! Best school one leader has ever worked with! GO US! 🙂

Just a wee update to say our Primary 6 campers have arrived safe and well.
I spoke to Miss Glencorse this morning also and she said that the Primary 7s are having a really great time and all is going well. She is delighted with the behaviour of the pupils and how they are participating in all aspects of the camp. #thumbsuptoallcampers
