For most of us, today was our last Christmas dinner at Our Lady of Lourdes so we were determined to have a ball. The food was good, the company was good and we looked great in our Christmas jumpers! 11 sleeps till our real Christmas dinner!!

Children’s Fun Day
P6/7 are really looking forward to organising and taking charge of our fun day on Friday. Please remember to bring your permission slips in to let us know if you are allowed to get your face painted or have a transfer done. We also need to know if you are allowed a hot dog and our delicious Christmas punch! There will be lots of games like pin the nose on Rudolph, beat the goalie and pick the stick! It will be great fun for everybody. Remember it’s a dress down day too!!

Growth Mindset Feedback in P1/2 and P6/7
P1/2 and P6/7 worked collaboratively again today to finish off our new “Paper Dolls” stories. The infants made up the stories and their big buddies scribed for them to create beautiful books complete with pictures. These stories will appear outside Mrs Nicol’s classroom. Miss Glencorse then collected constructive feedback from both the P6/7’s and the P1/2’s. It was a brilliant morning and everyone had a great time! Here is some of our feedback, all aimed at trying to create a Growth Mindset! Well done everyone!
JRSO Launch
Yesterday, Coni and Macauley, along with Miss Glencorse, attended the Junior Road Safety Officer Launch at St Anthony’s Primary in Armadale. There were lots of good ideas and Coni and Macauley, along with Lewis, Tiegan and Eilidh, the rest of our JRSO team, will be working hard on producing an assembly to show to the rest of the school . As you will see from the photos, Macauley even got a chance to practice!! We also have a JRSO mascot called Officer Pickles! Look out for more information from the JRSO team soon.

P6/7 Reflect on our Nurture Afternoon
Today, we spoke a lot about the benefits of our Nurture afternoon yesterday, when we spent time with members of our family and our staff watching a film. We discussed how us, our families and our school form a triangle and we’re always thinking of ways to help strengthen the bonds between all three parts of the triangle. We decided that the stronger these links are, the more successful learners we will become. Here are some quotes about what people in our class thought about yesterday:
“It really brought the school together and made everyone friendlier”
Macauley
“It brought our school community together”
Tiegan
“We learned about friendship”
Oliwier
“It gave us time to bond with our families”
Katie
“It showed us how similar we all are”
Coni
“It lets our families bond with our school and the staff”
Calvin
“It gave us time to relax and have fun with our families and our teachers”
Eilidh
Our Visit to the Cenotaph
P6/7 joined up with P4/5 this afternoon to visit our local War Memorial. We looked at the statue and at the poppy wreaths that had been left on Remembrance Sunday. We also paid our own respects and left our class memento beside the other wreaths. We had a one minute silence and said some prayers.
Lest We Forget!
Rememberance Day in P6/7
Our whole school took part in today’s two minute silence at 11 o’clock. P6/7 spent the morning listening to The Last Post, learning about why it is important to wear poppies and discussing the poem “In Flanders Fields”. We know how important it is to never forget what others gave up so we could be free. May they rest in peace.
