Ogilvie School Campus…'Working together to celebrate every unique success’

Delighted to have some of young people helping to develop important Lifeskills this morning at school. Our bus is gleaming and ready for the gala day tomorrow. Next week make sure it is Miss Macsween’s car you are washing 🙂 Well done to everyone who took part, amazing job!

The Penguins have been having so much fun at Astro Gymnastics over the past month.  The children have been provided with lots of new experiences and opportunities to develop their gross motor skills (climbing, jumping, balancing, running etc) and have had a brilliant time while doing it.  The children worked hard at sharing resources and waiting to take their turn on the equipment.  There were lots of lovely interactions between the children, playing chasing games together or bouncing together on the inflatables.  Well done Penguins, a great experience for all involved!

The children in the Hedgehog class had a great morning celebrating Red Nose Day.  Most joined in the fun by wearing RED.  Throughout the morning children did some lovely colouring, designed their own red nose using dough and accessories, made a fun headband and participated in our Red Nose Day Obstacle Course.  By far the favourite activity was creating and eating a Red Nose Pizza.

All of the classes at Ogilvie come to music throughout their school week.  We sing lots of lovely songs and learn all about percussion and rhythm.  Take a look at what some of the classes have been learning this week and watch out for your child’s class coming up in the future.

The Tigers have been learning tunes on percussion using coloured Figurenotes.

The Koalas have been playing percussion with “We Will Rock You”.

The Meercats have been enjoying keeping the beat.

 

 

Today in the Willow area classes 1-4 had an open door policy for all children to experience a variety of different World Book day Activities . The pupils all coped well with this and offered them the opportunity to mix with peers from different classes and have a wider option of activities to take part in. As part of World Book day each child in the school was able to choose a book from the book swap area and the pupils in the Lion class each brought home a book to keep today. Thank you for your support with this and we hope you enjoyed sharing the new book.

The pupils will be going out in little groups to Sainsbury’s Cafe over the next few weeks so we will share photos once all groups have been. This links in with our class topic and pupils are being encouraged to order their own snack while in the cafe.

The second group of Penguins had so much fun at swimming for their block.  All of the children grew in confidence over the few weeks they were swimming and all had a really positive experience.  If your child’s photos are not on this post then they will be on the post from a few weeks ago if you click back a few pages.  

Not quite sure where the last 6 weeks have gone but we have managed to pack a lot in during these last few weeks. Our topic is allowing us to explore our local community which has resulted in the class being out and about every Tuesday as well as going out on the bus in small groups on a Thursday.

Over the next few weeks our class room will have a shop in it and will be turning it into a cafe in a few weeks. We will be inviting some of the other classes in to taste some of our amazing cooked pizzas. All pupils are encouraged to become as independent as possible during cooking sessions and we have been working on our  spreading and cutting skills. We hope to invite you all to come in and enjoy our cafe too!

Pupils have been playing with and learning all about money during role play and planned activities. All of the pupils have had the opportunity to go to the shop and buy our weekly snack and cooking items handling the money, looking at the shopping list and talking to the people in the shops.

  Another successful session with parents/carers and our Speech and Language Therapist on interactive communications.

 Shannon, from SMK Dance has started dance blocks for our children.  Can you guess what the music is to the first photo?  ‘Let it go’, from Frozen.  The children had a fabulous time.  We look forward to more sessions this term.

 A taste of Scottish fayre – haggis rolls for snack in the Tigers class today.  Thank you for including me, I enjoyed sharing this experience with you today.
