News from P7/6

This week we have been working with equivalent fractions. We all realized how important our multiplication and division knowledge is when working with these fractions.

Mrs Stuart worked with us on problem solving and she taught us how to play Soduko. It really makes your brain work!

P7/6 is working with STEM this term (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

Through using STEM activities we have learned how to work effectively in a group. This means that everyone has a voice and that what we contribute matters. This week we looked at chain reactions and had the opportunity to build and design our own.

P7’s have been working hard on their steps for next weeks transition Ceilidh and are all looking forward to this wonderful experience.

What is the IDL Literacy programme?

At Murrayfield we use an online literacy resource called IDL. All pupils in P4 and P5 have access to the resource as well as some pupils in P6 and P7. Working through the lessons in IDL is beneficial for all pupils as it provides practise on the skills needed to become an effective reader and writer.

The best results are seen when pupils complete at least 1 hour a week on the program. This can be done in school and at home. We would be grateful if you could support your child to log on and complete some lessons at home. Pupils using IDL in school are aware of their username and password.

Further information can be found on the IDL website https://idlsgroup.com/parents
