We have written newspaper articles about Buddy the Elf after we found he had caused trouble at our classroom Christmas tree.

We are continuing to use our word boost words as much as we can when we are speaking and writing.

We are enjoying learning new Christmas facts every day with our class advent calendar.

Eat your heart out, Gustave Eiffel!

Well done Callen Johnston, who ate his breakfast at the Breakfast Club and then moved on to create his own Statue of Liberty, using ZOOB construction pieces!  Here he is, proudly displaying his work.   For those of you who didn’t know, Gustave Eiffel also helped to build the Statue of Liberty in New York.  Callen is showing great promise as a future engineer.

If you would like to come along to Breakfast Club and take part in making exciting models, building with Lego, catching up with friends or taking part in our Wednesday morning exercise group, come along and join us at 8.15am every morning!  Everyone is welcome, from P1 – P7.  (Sorry Mums, Dads and Carers – you will have to get your own breakfast!)

P7/6 News

Good Morning Parents and Carers,

I’m so sorry for the delay at putting up my class news-Glow was unfortunately down over the weekend.

I just wanted to say a huge well done to all the boys and girls for the effort they put in for their assembly on Friday. It was wonderful to watch and I am so proud of everyone. A special mention to Lewis and Rachel for their excellent performance as Mr and Mrs Eejit-I am still chuckling to myself at the comedy they managed to create with their portrayal of the characters. Well done to everyone who auditioned for the parts as well-that was a funny afternoon in the class 🙂

Here are some photos for you to enjoy!

Also Well done to Brandon this week who won the Dojo Class Challenge! Who will be next I wonder?

Have a great week and hope to see you all at the Christmas Fair tonight.

Miss Moir

P4-7 Christmas choir – Music Stars!

The choir performed fantastically well yesterday, spreading the festive cheer with their recording of two of their favourite Christmas songs! They have worked so hard, in such a short space of time, to produce a varied programme for over the festive period.
Tonight sees them open the Christmas Fair with some well-known songs, as well as a couple of new ones. Hopefully, this will fill everyone with Christmas cheer!
Tomorrow, Thursday, they will entertain all the shoppers in Tesco, at 1.45pm. It’d be great to see lots of friendly faces there to support them. As always, any monies collected will be donated to Tesco’s named charities.

Not to be outdone, the staff thought that it was time to spread some Christmas ‘cheer?’ of their own and also recorded a little something for the West Lothian Council facebook page. (We tried our best!) 🙂

If you would like to hear the children’s beautiful singing and the staff giving their rendition of Jingle Bell Rock, then please visit the West Lothian council facebook page or https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/whitburnandblackburnnews

See you tonight!

Mrs Stewart.

P7 News 17.11.17

This week is Anti-bullying week.

P7 have been learning about different types of bullying and how to keep themselves and others safe from harm. The pupils took part in a workshop from The One Creative Drama group called Friend/Unfriend to learn about cyber bullying.  They supported the pupils from P7/6 to put on a performance together for the whole school.

In class we have continued to read our class novel, Wonder’. Our guided reading sessions focused on writing from the point of view of the children on their first impressions of Auggie Pullman. We have also continued to learn new vocabulary used by the writer in the novel.  We discussed the words; aversion, prehistoric, notion, alignment, mortality and shrivelled.

Have a lovely weekend from Mrs Harrison and P7.

P3 News

We have had a brilliant week in P3.

In literacy hour we have been doing lots of spelling tasks. We have learned more about grammar – nouns, adjectives and verbs. In word boost, we are improving our vocabulary by learning and using lots of new words.

We are continuing to learn about money with Miss Drummond and have used different strategies to solve number problems too.

We enjoyed our cinema trip yesterday and enjoyed planning a newspaper report to write about this.

Have a lovely weekend,

Primary 3, Miss Calder and Miss Drummond.

P6 this week.

This week we have been working hard on fractions of whole numbers. The learners in P6 showed excellent perseverance during their tasks and this lead to some great  collaborative work.

We are becoming more confident when discussing our learning during group times, a small step towards becoming independent and confident learners.

Our second week of Tobacco workshop saw the children giving fantastic feedback of knowledge gained. They enjoyed sharing their views about smoking and the dangers that it causes.

P6 have formed their own clans through doing research on clan life during the Highland clearances. We are all very excited about being part of these clans and will be taking our roles very seriously.
