P 5/4.

Happy Easter to you all. I hope you all have had a lovely Easter Sunday and have been enjoying the holidays so far.

I apologize for not being able to give out some Maths and Spelling over the holidays, I have been having problems with my printer, scanner and copier at home. Hopefully I will be able to get some of these put up onto the blog over the next week.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of what we have been up to over the last few weeks.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays.
Miss Hanlon. 🙂

Learning in P2/1

We have had a very busy but enjoyable week in P2/1.

On Monday we worked in a team with P6 to do a litter pick.  We used litter pickers to clean up all of the rubbish that we found.  It was hard work but we did a super job!

Thank you to the mum’s (and little sister) who came along to help us.

In our numeracy activities we have been learning about Fact Families.  We have to remember that the biggest number comes at the end of an addition problem and at the start of a subtraction problem.

We have also been learning the names for each number.  We are using our reading skills to help us and if we get stuck we can check by looking at the number line on the wall.

Another thing we have been doing this week is doubling numbers.  We have been using mirrors to see what happens to the dots on a die when we double them and playing games to help us learn them.

Today we went to the church for our Easter service and then we hunted for Easter eggs in our classroom!

Have a good Easter holiday every one!

See you all after the holiday ready for more learning!

Easter Service

The Lighthouse Club (Scripture Union) are very excited to be leading the Easter Service at the church tomorrow morning. The Easter story will be told by ‘Lighthouse Television’, with reports from some of the important scenes starting from when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem right up to the events of Easter day. The service will start at 9.30am and parents are welcome to join us in the church (although space is limited).

Switched On – a leaflet for parents

Here is a useful leaflet with suggestions for you to use with your children at home.  As the ways in which our children access information through digital technology continues to increase, it can become harder to keep up with what they are accessing online and what is influencing them.

Burn scramble

An invigorating walk through the burn at Dounans.  Guaranteed to wash away any cobwebs!  These action photos were taken by Mrs Sneddon using her GoPro.

Dounans 2018

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend!  On behalf of the staff who attended Dounans this year, we’d like to thank our happy campers for their excellent behaviour, lovely manners and great company over the week.  It was great to see you achieve things you doubted you would be able to do, to see you overcome fears and support each other in so many different ways.  Your children were a credit to you and it was wonderful to hear the praise from instructors and other adults who  commented regularly on what a lovely group they were.

Here are a few more photos which I have just downloaded from the Ipad.  Sorry they are a bit later than the others.  Before anyone panics, I’d like to point out that the photos which look as though there are children falling from trees are actually a highly controlled descent facilitated by one of the instructors who encouraged the children to adopt a Superman pose on the way down!  They loved it!  I think you will also agree from the looks on their faces at the raft building activity, they had so much fun, even though the water was, to quote Zander, “a bit fresh”.

Glad to see that you have enjoyed sharing our experiences throughout the week.

A busy week in P3

We have had a smashing week in Primary 3.

On Monday we were busy keeping fit with the body coach. We tried our best to take part in all exercises and did some relaxing yoga afterwards.

We have done some RME, learning all about the Easter Story and sequencing important Easter events.

We have written imaginative stories all about a mysterious Easter Bunny and in maths we have practised our times tables and designed symmetrical easter eggs too!

We have enjoyed celebrating books today and taken lots of pictures of our book character costumes. We are spending the rest of today drawing our world book day selfies and reading some brand new books for our classroom Reading Den.

Have a great weekend,

Primary 3 and Miss Calder
