Welcome back to P7. This week we were learning about the Blitz and Evacuation. Thanks to Gerard and Anna who brought in WW1 and WW2 medals, a ‘Billeting Card’, ‘an ‘Evacuee Letter’ and a ‘Name Tag’. This really brought our lesson to life. Then we wrote our own descriptive letter based from an evacuees and their new life in the countryside, to their parents. We also drew a Blitz blackout picture using media using oil pastels. In Maths we learnt about the order of operations also known as BOMDAS. In Health and Wellbeing we continued to learn about how to look after our minds and mental health. The right of the week was Article 13- you have the right to say what you think and find all information as long as it is safe to use. We were also had ERIC time everyday.
Hi everyone, look at what we have learned this week! In Literacy we have learnt how to write a persuasive speech about how unfair the Treaty of Versailles was from Hitler’s point of view. In Maths we were dividing at three digit number by a two digit number. In reading we have looked at Cause and Effect In Topic we found out about the Blitz. In art we drew our own spitfires. We had a really interesting STEM talk from Karen Fitzsimons and we found out what it is like to be a Hydrogeologist. This week for our Smile Mile we had to walk like a chicken.
Hello everyone. This week in P7 we have immersed ourselves in our new topic ‘War and Conflict’. We found out more about WW1 and WW2. In Literacy we wrote a balanced argument on ‘The Treaty of Versailles, in ‘Topic’ we found out what actions Hitler took to start WW2. In Maths we revised Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. In Reading we found out about Armistice and sold poppies for Poppy Scotland. Joseph brought in Remembrance and Victory medals from WW1. Well done to Eilish for her Bronze medal at the Wallace Fencing Academy. Its been a busy week in P7
Welcome back to our P7 blog. We have been busy completing our Titanic topic and moving onto our new topic of War and Conflict. In Literacy we wrote a reflective essay called ‘ My Inspiration’ we talked about people who were inspirational to us and how they had helped us to become ‘Global Citizens’. In Maths we found out about strategies we can use in mental multiplication and long multiplication. In topic we completed our Titanic cabins. We started our War and Conflict topic by finding out about the reasons for WW1 and WW2. We dressed up for our fantastic Halloween parade.
Welcome back to P7. This week we have been trying to finish off all of work so we could show it to our parents. In Literacy -we finished out Titanic Newspapers and started our ‘ Who Was To Blame’ arguments. In Maths we investigated Multiples, Factors and Primes and 3D shapes. In topic we looked at the lessons learnt from the sinking of the Titanic ; how shipping rules have been changed and how boats are much safer now. We also completed a STEM challenge where we had to design a lifejacket for a can of soup. The soup had to float for 90 seconds! In Mindfulness we though about worries and how to manage them. Phew we’ve been busy and are looking forward to our October break.
Welcome back to our blog. This week in P7 we raised lots of money for Lepra by doing a sponsored workout. We also had a very exciting day finding out about careers in Science and Engineering, and completing lots of STEM challenges at Dynamic earth. We found out lots about ‘Life on Earth’ by watching fantastic 3D movies. In Literacy we completed our Titanic newspapers and in Maths we completed an assessment on ‘Integers’ we also completed a challenge on 2D shape. We moved on with our Titanic topic and investigated why the Titanic hit the iceberg and thought about who was to blame.
Well done to Lucas who came 3rd in the West Lothian Cross Country Interschools competition. A fantastic achievement!
Hi everyone, welcome back to P7. This week in Maths we investigated negative numbers. We looked at negative temperatures on thermometers, and, negative numbers in our bank balances, which would mean we were overdrawn (and in the red! ). In Topic we found out about what happened when the Titanic hit the iceberg and why so many people lost their lives. In Literacy we talked about the features of newspapers and became journalists reporting on the events that unfolded when the ‘Unsinkable Ship Sinks’ . In Art we completed our 3D perspective drawings of the Titanic. In ICT we found out how to create a Titanic watermark. We carried out research on the survivors of the tragedy and created tables with that information. We are really developing out ICT skills!
Welcome back to P7, this has been a short week but we’ve been busy… We’ve had great fun creating 3D perspective pencil drawings of the Titanic. We’ve also used our engineering skills to start working on 3D models . We used design skills to create 3D cabins. In Maths we revised 2D shapes and worked on multiplication of 4 and 5 digit numbers by multiples of 10,100 and 1,000. In Literacy we completed our Fact Files on the crew and passengers of the Titanic. We had our first shiny Friday. Some of us helped younger pupils develop their coding skills.
This week in Primary 7 it has been Big Maths Week , we have been working on how to multiply 4 and 5 digit numbers by multiples of 10,100 and 1,000. We have worked on our 8 times tables and tried to beat our Big Maths scores. We have taken part in the Sum Dog Bigh Maths Challenge. We have applied our problem solving skills by completing a STEM challenge to find out if we could make a boat from tin foil to hold at least 35 marbles! We had great fun designing boats and finding out how many marbles they would hold. We then weighed our boat and out boat with the marbles to find out the weight capacity of our design! We then wrote up our experiment using scientific language and investigated the science behind floating and sinking. we found out it had a lot do with mass and density. In Writing we continued with our Titanic Fact files. In Topic we investigated life on board the Titanic. Some of us started a technology challenge to create 3D cabins. In Art we investigated the work of Modigliani and created a self- portrait in the same style. Finally w
e prepared a performance and a video for Mrs Wilson’s assembly and sadly we had to say goodbye to our lovely PT after 10 years! we wish her great luck in the future.
Welcome back to our blog! This week we had a visit from a Theatre group and this helped us us to improve our Drama skills- we enjoyed performing dance moves from ‘Under the Sea’! In writing we completed our ‘Shape Shifter’ stories. In Maths we revised how to add and subtract numbers to millions. In topic we found out about ‘Sailing Day’ on board the Titanic – we found out about the crew on board, the class system at that time with First, Second and Third class cabins, the route the ship took and where it sopped along the way. We also found out why people were taking the trip. We create a wall display picture of the Titanic and we started to make 2D plans to help us to make 3D models of the ship.
