I have always been immensely proud of our Dedridge basketball teams over the years. We have developed this club over the last five years and it reached its pinnacle this year. The pupils in this team work hard every year and put time, commitment and effort into training once a week and playing in monthly tournaments.

From this commitment, the team battled their way through the end of season playoffs to earn one of the top two spots to represent West Lothian at the Lothians and Borders Finals at the Orium on Wednesday 6th June. Here we played against the top two teams from City of Edinburgh, Mid Lothian and the Borders. The team went unbeaten in the group stages with two draws and a win against tough opposition. They narrowly missed out on making it to the finals of the day! One of the teams they drew 10-10 with went on to win the grand finals. This shows how much our pupils have developed and how hard they have worked to go all the way against the best of the best.

Final league day of the West Lothian Basketball League was a great success. We have one last basketball day for the Playoffs to see who gets entered into the Lothians Finals. This is a knock out competition so it will be exciting and with all to play for!!

All children involved with the basketball this year will receive a medal soon in school.

Glasgow Rocks PE Trip

Another fantastic sports trip to see the Glasgow Rocks narrowly beat the Newcastle Eagles. We have a great community atmosphere between our two local schools St Ninian’s and Dedridge and I am proud of all our children for making it such a fantastic trip.

Thanks to all staff involved for their help!

Throwing Skills in P3

Great fun this morning with P3 practicing throwing skills and working as a team!

Snow Day Wellbeing Challenge

Choose your level and spell your name. Want to make it harder, add in middle and surnames. Why not challenge the rest of your family to join you. Clear a space, get some music on and do a workout together.

Afterwards all take the time out of your day to try the five minute relaxation activity. This is as important for us all with busy lives as exercise. Again, put some quiet relaxing music on, or alternatively go for silence and concentrate on the noises you can hear all around you.

For wee superstars:

For those feeling brave:

For a little extra spice…:

Time for some relaxation, please take the time to try this!

Best of luck to you all, parents…apologies in advanced.
