Science in P6
This week P6D were learning about stored (potential) energy. We discussed rechargeable batteries and how animals (and humans) get their energy from the food that they eat. We now know that sloths move very slowly because their diet mainly consists of leaves which contain carbohydrates. Cheetahs on the other hand eat meat which contains carbohydrates, proteins and fat, allowing them to have much more energy and move a lot faster.
Finally we made catapults that use rubber bands to store energy. This allowed us to fire balls across the classroom!
Whitburn Working Together (NHS Lothian, West Lothian Council & Third Sector partners) for wellbeing group – survey.
The Whitburn Working Together (NHS Lothian, West Lothian Council & Third Sector partners) for wellbeing group are looking for local views on Health and Wellbeing. The feedback from the questionnaires will help shape future health and wellbeing developments for the population of Whitburn. To help with this journey could you please complete a short online questionnaire at https://forms.office.com/r/5MKHQN4KMEby
A project is taking place in Whitburn to identify how individuals use or access local support to stay healthy. This questionnaire has a focus on physical activity and food and health which can link to reducing long term health conditions such as diabetes. To help the project team gain the views of people local to Whitburn, could you please answer these questions either as an individual or as a group. If undertaken as a group please be aware that some questions ask for individual responses, and the facilitator will be required to capture the answers. You will not be asked for your name but the information you give will help the project team identify the current picture for Whitburn. The project team is a partnership between West Lothian Council, NHS Lothian and Third Sector organisations.

P6F World Book Day
What a busy day P6F had today. We arrived in our pyjamas with our favourite books and took part in lots of fun, book related, activities.
One of our tasks was to complete a book related crossword. Our phones came in handy when looking for some of the answers!
This afternoon, we had several very well behaved visitors from P1. Natalia brought in a Polish/English book from home and read it to our young visitors. The rest of P6 also enjoyed hearing the story. Well done!
We also went on a scavenger hunt to find book references. The library turned out to be a very good place to look. Great teamwork from everyone today 👍
A few of other activities included;
- Designing a mask of our favourite character from a book (winners to be announced during tomorrow’s assembly)
- Making a bookmark
- Taking part in the BBC Live lesson
What a fun day! 🙂
