After a weekend away from school, the chicks were delighted to be back with p3/4. We noticed that some of the chicks have started to feather, especially around their wings!
Day 3
This morning we got all 10 chicks out of incubator for the first time together. Some chicks even made some new friends! 🐣
Primary 4
Primary 4 have throughly enjoyed their first experience of agile learning. The theme was transport, their new topic. We built cars and bikes using Knex, explored construction transport in the sand, listened to songs, made posters and PowerPoints and participated in drama about road safety.
Day 2- more hatchlings!
Another busy day for us in p3/4 as all 10 of our eggs have now hatched! We now have 5 boys and 5 girls. Today was also the first day we got to hold them 🐣
Day 1- 6 chicks hatched … so far
We have had an exciting day in p3/4 with 6 of our 10 eggs hatching! We love having our new little hatchlings in our classroom 🐣
P5/6 Marvellous Models
P5/6 have been busy creating models as part of our Jacobites topic. We had lots of fun making them and then took some time to show our work to the class. Thank you Mums and Dads for all your help! They look marvellous.
Primary 4 – Fractions
Primary 4 have thoroughly enjoyed learning about fractions. We have incorporated Kit Kats, Lego, technology, outdoor learning and pancakes into our learning.
Whitburn walks
Some children had the opportunity of exploring the local high-street today. We were able to observe lots of different street and shop signs. We discussed what we knew about the local shops and what you buy from each place.
We got to go inside the charity shop where we found a metal teapot for our house corner.
We also go to choose 2 new books for free for the nursery. Thank you for our books!
We walked past the bakery and the children asked to go in, not everyone knew what they sold in the bakery so we went in to explore. We decided to purchase a domino cake for our snack
We counted all the spots on our cake and spent time talking with the bakery staff. We learned what you can buy from the bakery.
Thank you Christie bakery who gifted us a second cake to share.
We loved eating our cake for snack. It was delicious!
World Book Day 2023
Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day. We will be celebrating in school with lots of fun activities and competitions.
Instead of dressing up the children can come to school wearing pyjamas or cosy clothes and they can bring their favourite book to share with their class.
There are lots of ideas and fun things for families to do on the World Book Day website. Please have a look with your children.
