P5N had a great afternoon with Melissa, from the School of Ancient Crafts, exploring life in Roman times. We handled a 2000 year old artifact and explored how Romans lived. We even made our own Roman oil lamps from clay and, using a Roman style drill, made our own writing tablets.

Anderson Shelter Presentations
Last week we completed our Anderson Shelter project with class talks!
Each talk was individual, very unique and completed to a very high standard!
Here are some photos of the children during their talks!
Also a big well done to Brian who completed the optional homework task of baking a cake using a World War 2 recipe!
Forest Nursery
Well today was very exciting in nursery, we started our Forest Nursery! The children had the opportunity to explore the local woodland. We discussed how to keep safe, with great responses to “watch out for branches”, “jaggy nettles”, “tripping up”, “getting poked” we also had to watch out for “The Gruffalo” and “Tigers”.
There was wonderful imaginative play when we found a witches broomstick and had a hunt for her! We used the trees as seesaws, swings and to hide behind during hide and seek.
Help was on hand from the children to build a shelter for snack and then a story before we headed back back to school.

Shared Spooky Story
Thank you for supporting our Shared Spooky Story this morning and for all of the effort that was put into your costumes. It was great fun and helped to raise the importance of reading for enjoyment.
The pupils enjoyed sharing a story with their family members and teachers. The catering staff also entered into the fun. Well done !
Feast of All Saints
The school will attend Mass at 10 am on Wednesday 1st of November to celebrate the Feast of all Saints.
Shared Spooky Story
We are working throughout this session to increase the amount of time we all spend reading for enjoyment. As part of this focus we are hosting a series of reading events in school. Just a reminder that the first of these will take place tomorrow from 8.30 am -9.00 am. Adults and children are being encouraged to come to school in their Hallowe’en costume and bring their favourite scary story to read with the adult in their classroom. There will be books available in the classroom too. It promises to be a great fun event, so come along and join in. We will be posting photographs of this event on the school blog.
