There was a joyful atmosphere in the P5G classroom this morning as both of our P5 classes joined together for their Charity bake sale. A fabulous £240.30 was raised for Shelter. Well done boys and girls!

Day 11: Baby Chicks
Today we carried out experiments to see if the baby chicks liked different kinds of food.
We offered them; apple, cucumber, potato, lettuce, corn on the cob, toast, carrot, normal chick feed, meal worms and live worms (freshly dug up from the garden).
There was a little bit of interest in the meal worms and live worms (after the chicks worked out what they were) and lots of interest in their normal chick feed.
As for the fruit and veg, they were less than enthusiastic and just ignored most of it.

Primary 1 also popped in for a wee visit and got to see the chicks up close.
Tomorrow we say goodbye to the chicks. It’s going to be a sad day!

Day 10: Baby Chicks
Sorry this post is a day late!
My two helpers today were Charlie and Klaudia. They did a great job of caring for our chicks this morning and making sure they had everything that they needed.

In the afternoon, we allowed the chicks to have a run around the class. They loved the extra space and we loved being able to pick them up.
More updates soon.
Bake Sale this Friday!
Just a reminder that both of our P5 classes will be hosting a Divine Mercies bake sale this Friday with all money raised going to Shelter, the homeless charity. All items will be priced at either 50p or £1. All classes will have a chance to visit our bake sale and buy some tasty treats. Remember to bring in your pennies!
Important Safety Notice
Dear Parents/Carers
The construction company carrying out work on the footpath and fences across from the school have asked me to draw your attention to the signs in place to indicate areas of the site which are closed. It is not safe for pedestrians to walk on the footpath behind the barriers during construction work or to drive in these areas. A number of children are entering the site and climbing on the equipment after school. Please reinforce to children that it is not safe for them to do so.
Vehicular access to the school remains the same; visitors to the school from 8.15 am until 9.00 am and from 2.30 pm until 3.15 pm should park in Gateside Road and walk along the footpath to the school. It is not safe for parents to park or drop off children in the staff car parks. The bus parking area and small area behind the houses are not suitable for parking as it involves vehicles reversing when children are crossing the area.
We are committed to keeping our children safe and ask for your continued support in making the area in front of the school a vehicle free zone when children are using this area.
Thank You
Mrs Burns
Day 8: Baby Chicks
Day 7: Baby Chicks
All the chicks are doing very well. They’ve been weighed and several have gained a few grams. I’m not surprised considering the amount of food that they are eating!!
Today as a wee treat they were allowed to explore the kitchen. Judging by the amount of poop on the floor I think they were very excited about having the extra space to run around.
(On the plus side, my kitchen floor has now been washed and is sparkling.)
The chicks have now got fresh bedding, fresh water and a full dish of food.
More updates tomorrow.
Night, night!
