Thank you!

I would like to thank all of the children, staff and parents of St Joseph’s for all of the kind messages of support and encouragement as I leave to take up my new position. The kindness shown has been overwhelming.

I would like to thank the children of P1 and their parents for creating such a lovely memory book for me. I will treasure it and look back on it with lots of fond memories. Also a huge thank you for all of the generous gifts and cards. Your children are a true inspiration and I am very honoured to have been their teacher. They are little super stars!!!

St Joseph’s is a special school full of wonderful children and I am very proud to have been part of it.

Primary 1 Big Board Games Day

Primary 1 had wonderful fun playing their board games with their friends to raise money for the NSPCC.

Primary 1, 1/2 and 2’s science morning

For our science morning we were learning about materials and how they act and how they can change. With Mrs Kerr the children learned about solids, liquids and gasses. We experimented with Oobleck slime and discovered that it can change from acting like a solid to a liquid. We had so much fun!

Playground Fun

The children have had so much fun today in the playground. They have built snowmen and made snow angels.

Primary 1 STEM challenge

Prinary 1 were so lucky to have real engineer, Mrs Haigh, work with us on our STEM challenge.

Our Challenge was to use construction materials to build towers that stood on their own and we used measuring devices to make sure they were the correct height. We also had to follow plans to build structures. Mrs Haigh spoke to us about her job as an engineer and we asked her lots of questions.

Netball

Monday 13th March will be the last training session for the school netball team this term.

A huge well done to the children who represented the netball team at the Whitburn Schools Netball Festival. The team played brilliantly and we finished in second place! Great fun was had by all and we demonstrated super sportsmanship. Go St Joseph’s!!!

A dragon came to visit P1

The Friendly Dragon visited our classroom. Fairyland is disappearing because no one believes in fairytales anymore. The dragon has asked primary 1 to rebuild fairyland. We were so excited and after some careful planning we got to work. We plan to build a castle, make a beanstalk, grow our own flower garden, make a rainbow and waterfall just to name a few. We would appreciate any donations of cardboard. Keep a look out for regular updates!

Sewing in P1

The children in primary 1 have started sewing their cushions. We made patterns for our cushions and cut our own material. We then used our new found sewing skills to sew them together and stuff them. The children have worked so hard on this project and have been so proud of their accomplishments.

Down in the Jungle in Nursery

Our nursery class has turned the nursery into a jungle. We are learning to recognise and order numbers on our giant number leaves.

P1 Sewing…….next steps!

Today in sewing primary 1 learned to sew in straight lines. We did ever so well! The next step is to sew around shapes to make a little cushion. Watch out for updates.
