Big Get Together Read

The weather forecast for tomorrow is looking good for our Big Get Together Read.  The book fayre will be in the dining room for parents to visit from 11.30 am on wards.  Pupils will be able to visit the book fayre in the morning. Parents can come along, with a picnic and a good book to read with their child, choose a spot and enjoy their lunch.  If your child is in receipt of a free lunch, one will be provided for them.

The event will end at 12.15 pm to allow pupils to return to their class to be dismissed.

If you are unable to attend a family member can come in your place or your child will be able to read with a member of staff.

Just a reminder that St Kentigern’s  ‘Dance Dance Dance’  show  is on Wednesday 20th June at Howden Park Theatre from 7pm – 9pm.   The pupils should be there for 6.30 pm to allow them time to get ready.

The show is organised by Kerry Jones, PE teacher  at St Kentigern’s and the performance’s show  work that has been done through PE dance qualifications and School Dance clubs throughout the year. As part of the show Kerry invited our primary  to join in and take part in the show. They will perform the same dance they did during the Primary Festival

The show is during the evening and the audience pay for tickets. Parents will get the opportunity to pay for tickets  – costing £5 for adults and £3 concessions. You can buy online or go into Howden and pay at desk.

Galaday 2018

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you are aware, Whitburn Galaday takes place on Saturday June 23rd.   This year the school has been given winter as our theme.  As many of our pupils already have costumes from the Disney film ‘Frozen’ these could be worn.  Alternatively pupils should wear a white T-shirt, white leggings or tights and a snowflake headband.

Those who wish can order a snowflake costume from the school.  This will consist of a snowflake headband and a white T-shirt with a snowflake motif at a cost of £5.00.

Please complete the tear-off slip sent home today and return to school with payment by Friday 8th June to allow orders to be placed.  The photograph below gives an idea for the snowflake costume.  A snowflake headband, white face paint and  big hair with white or silver spray will complete the look.  We look forward to seeing the result, have fun!

Important Safety Notice

Dear Parents/Carers

The construction company carrying out work on the footpath and fences across from the school have asked me to draw your attention to the signs in place to indicate areas of the site which are closed.   It is not safe for pedestrians to walk on the footpath behind the barriers during construction work or to drive in these areas.  A number of children are entering the site and climbing on the equipment after school.  Please reinforce to children that it is not safe for them to do so.

Vehicular access to the school remains the same; visitors to the school from 8.15 am until 9.00 am and from 2.30 pm until 3.15 pm should park in Gateside Road and walk along the footpath to the school.   It is not safe for parents to park or drop off children in the staff car parks.  The bus parking area and small area behind the houses are not suitable for parking as it involves vehicles reversing when children are crossing the area.

We are committed to keeping our children safe and ask for your continued support in making the area in front of the school a vehicle free zone when children are using this area.

Thank You

Mrs Burns
