P1D Learn How to Take Care of a Baby

Primary One have been learning about how to take care of a baby as part of this term’s Health and Well Being curriculum.  The children have engaged in role play to test bath water, feed the baby (doll), sing to it and rock it to sleep.  We were very luck to welcome a real life baby, Alex from P1S little sister and mum, who spoke to us about how she takes care of her baby.  The children asked very interesting questions to learn more.  They were as follows:

‘How do you put a nappy on a baby?’  – Aryaman

‘What type of food do you give the baby?’ –Luke

‘How do you put clothes on the baby?’ – Caoimhe

‘Do you sing songs to get the baby to sleep?’ – Lauren

‘How do you know if the baby is pooping?’ –Niamh

‘Do babies play?’ – Lena

‘How do you feed a baby?’ –Dee

‘How do you put shoes on a baby?’ –Ava

We look forward to continuing this interesting learning, especially as we take part in a ‘Guess the Baby’ game.  Please look out for a baby photo request in your child’s diary next week.  Plus, we are going to make real bottles for ‘capacity’ lessons in maths and take part in a listening and talking opportunity called, ‘When I was a Baby’.  Very exciting!
