Emotions

We are focusing on exploring our emotions and feelings. Through the use of mood monsters we are giving the children the opportunity to engage in activities to talk about their feelings.

At our entrance we have an area with Happy, Sad, Angry and Worried pictures, when the children come into nursery in the morning/afternoon they have the opportunity to go and get their own name/picture card and place it on the mood monster that tells us how they feel.

We also have other resources around the nursery, Miss Livingston has been making a game for the children to play consisting of various feelings picture cards which are placed on the floor and the children can use a bean bag to throw onto the picture and say which facial expression it is.

Miss O’Hara has been listening to what the children want and through this has brought out various resources such as buttons, pasta, google eyes and picture frames. The children were happily engaged making use of the resources and had fun with the picture frames and facial expressions.

The drawing resources were also of interest to develop mark making and talk about what they are drawing. Miss Trench was  engaging in play with the children at this area where some lovely work was displayed about feelings. Ariana drew circles and used sticker eyes and when asked about her pictures she said, “it is a happy face and an angry face”

All staff are supporting the children to talk about there feelings.
