We have had another busy week of fun and learning in Primary 2. We have continued to develop our knowledge of the main food groups, learning their proper names and sorting a variety of food items correctly. So far, we have covered fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates and protein. We have been focusing of “qu” in our spelling and handwriting as well as magic / silent “e”. Primary 2 are enjoying French and often use different languages when we do our register each morning. We know “bonjour” is French, “zao shàng hao” is Mandarin (Chinese) and “chào buổi sáng” is Vietnamese. We will learn to say “good morning” in Japanese next week!
Great Green: Recently we have enjoyed…
-Creating symmetrical fruity face plates using a variety of different fruits. We tasted the fruits and chose our top 3! Strawberries were our overall favourite with apple and banana following close second. Pomegranate and kiwi were our least favourite.
-Trying different reading strategies in our reading groups; echo reading, choral reading, paired and individual reading. Primary 2 also still very much enjoy being read to, we recently finished a non-fiction book about animals of the night!
Think Pink:
-We are continuing to learn about food in French! The children have focused on drinks and some fruit and vegetables so far! They are learning to notice similarities in French words to English e.g. “une banane” is “a banana” and “une tomate” is “a tomato”. We also love to remember “milk” is “le lait” which sounds like the name “Lily”.
-Taking care in the toilets and open area. Remembering to tidy up our mess and wash our hands.
Lead Learners:
Well done to Muhammad Ali and Lam for being our lead learners this week, and Alice and Nova last week. They do a fantastic job helping around the school and classroom.
Our lead learners next week are Willow and Alaya. They have had a fantastic week, eager and enthusiastic about their learning and kind towards others in the class.
Wee reminder: Show and tell will now take place on a Monday, toys are not allowed in school and children should use Seesaw to share pictures of their show and tell item or activity. We love to see what each other has been up to at home, in the garden or out and about!
