P1 learning

Another week has flew by in P1!

In literacy, we learned about the letters ‘z’ and ‘x’. We had great fun making Zigzag the zebra and x-ray pictures!

In numeracy, we were learning about 2D shapes. Mrs Howley’s class went on a shape hunt to identify shapes in our environment! We also practised writing numbers as words and used our phonics to help us identify each number word.

This week was our personal talks. All our friends really enjoyed listening to us talking about our favourite toys. We used big loud voices when we were talking so everyone could hear us and we listened really well when other people were speaking. Mrs Howley and Miss Gorman were very proud of us!

We were super excited to receive a Christmas goodie bag at the end of the week, we jingled our way out the door to go home!

Homework for this week is on Seesaw and please encourage the children to be using Sumdog.

Miss Gorman and Mrs Howley can’t believe it is the last week of term next week! We have lots of fun Christmas activities planned! Enjoy your weekend and see you on Monday.

Very Productive Week in P5

Last week was a very busy week in P5 – we designed our own pairs of odd socks to celebrate difference and anti-bullying week.

Everyone worked together to achieve all the different jobs in the garden area which is really starting to take shape – well done everyone.

We also had great fun during PE – some excellent hockey skills on display and fantastic sportsmanship.

P1 Learning

In literacy we learned about the letters ‘u’ and ‘d’ and practised identifying the middle vowel sounds in words. We also enjoyed making a sentence to match a picture.
In numeracy we used concrete materials (ice penguins) to create our own number sentences. We practised adding and subtracting numbers to find the total amount. We also enjoyed matching the magnetic numbers.
This week we celebrated book week!  The theme was ‘Future’, we celebrated this by discussing what our future might look like and what we wanted to be when we grow up. We created a time capsule of our hopes and aspirations and buried this in a secret place in our playground area! We also listened to an author live read session by Julia Donaldson and enjoyed relaxing reading opportunities in our classroom.
This week was also anti-bullying week. We wore odd socks to school and created our own odd socks to celebrate that we are all different, unique and special. In writing we took the opportunity to create and write about ‘My Superhero’. We had some amazing superpowers!

Just a reminder that the homework is now on Seesaw. The children have also been set a challenge on Sumdog to complete. Any problems logging on- please let us know.

Enjoy your weekend and see you all on Monday!

Another week in P1!

Another fantastic week in Primary one!
We had great fun in PE! We were using balls and bean bags to throw at a target and then we counted up our points.
In science we learned about different materials and went on a discovery walk around our school to spot all the different materials in our environment.
We’ve enjoyed pretending to be shop keepers and customers and paying for items with the coins we have been learning about.
This week we were using our creative minds to write some fantastic imaginative stories about an amazing adventure. Some of us went to the moon, visited a princess in a castle and even met our favourite Avenger. What a great time we had on our adventures!
Look at our fantastic creations we made during our free play time, googly eyed creatures and shape patterns. We also created fantastic poopy crafts for remembrance day.
Miss Gormans class enjoyed going into the school library! We found loads of great books and found some of our favourites.
We learned about the letters ‘b’ and ‘h’.
Please check on our sway and seesaw for the new homework activities you can complete at home.
Have a lovely weekend

P1 Learning

What a busy week we have had in Primary one!

P1 have learnt about the letter e and f this week, look at our fantastic literacy art! We also looked at different coins and discussed what we use money for. We had great fun in our Toy Shop this week, picking toys to sell and all having a go at being the shopkeeper.

The children will have come home with their Sumdog logins today. This is an online resource that focuses on the children’s numeracy skills and will be used in class as well as for their homework. We are just looking for you to familiarise yourself and the children with the resource at the moment and have a go at the activities! We will be uploading tasks for the children to complete in the coming weeks onto Sumdog.

The phonics work is also on the Sway this week as well as a new sharing our learning grid so you can see what we will be working on this term.

Also, Miss Gormans PE day has changed this term- the children will be participating in PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mrs Howleys class will stay the same  (Monday and Thursday).

Enjoy your weekend and see you Monday!
