Mrs Bryce is trying to work from home but her little girl has other plans! Lucia and Mrs Bryce have been busy this afternoon building a snowman. Everyone, meet Tutti-Frutti the Snow Girl! Please post pictures of your snow creations!
Winter Weather Activities
As the “Beast from the East” is forecast and we have been issued with a Yellow Weather warning, here are some Snow activities to keep you busy if the schools and nurseries have to be closed:
- Build the biggest snowman you can. Make sure they have eyes, a nose, a mouth, and arms.
Take a photograph of your creation and bring it in when we come back for us all to see.
- Snow writing. Grab a stick and write your name in the snow.
- Find an old odd sock and make a puppet character from your favourite book. Bring it in when we come back and show your friends.
- Draw a picture of the snowy scene you can see from your window.
- Make some cookies with an adult so you can eat them when you’re finished building your snowman just like the ones we made at Stay Play Make. Here is the recipe:-
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes 18
100g Margarine
75g Soft light brown sugar
2x15ml tablespoons syrup

Happy Chinese New Year!
A1 and A2 celebrated Chinese New Year on Friday in style by enjoying a feast of different Chinese foods! They enjoyed all the conversation with their friends and finding out all about which Chinese animal year they were born in.
Enjoying Reading to Bennie the Dog!
Rachel from the Dogs Trust brought in Bennie the Dog to visit our school today. Bennie loves listening to stories and we loved reading stories to him! He also enjoyed getting brushed, clapped and cuddled. We can’t wait to see Rachel and Bennie again next week!
Bookbug Launch
Our launch of the Bookbug Explorer Bag was well attended by the parents and pupils of Hopefield Nursery. Everyone enjoyed the singing and the stories before a special visitor arrived to hand out the special Bookbug bags.
We look forward to hearing all about the stories which you received in your bag. You could even draw us a picture of the Bookbug with the pencils from your bag and bring it in for us to see.
Paired Reading
We had a fantastic experience when our Primary 6/7 pupils came to read us our favourite stories. Both primary and nursery pupils thoroughly enjoyed this experience and we even had a shadow story from one of the boys. Iris chose “a girl” to read her the Giant of Jum book and Esme liked the shadow story but really enjoyed the Giant of Jum. Chardonnay and Frankie enjoyed the story about the Snail and the Whale. Mason loved Craig reading him a story about a teddy bear. Oskaras was so excited when he heard the story about the pirate. Kaeden and Cameron were finding out about the Dragon!
Looking forward to next week!
