A1/P1 Shadow pictures 29/04/20

Good afternoon A1/P1. I hope you have all had a great morning.

I thought today as the weather is a bit rubbish, we could make some cool lights.
All you will need is –
  • cellotape
  • An empty pringles tube or toilet roll / kitchen roll tube
  • Paper
All you need to do is draw any character of your choice, just make sure it’s no bigger then the end of your tube. My example is the Gruffalo, but you could choose anything you like.
Once you’ve cut out your picture you need to cellotape it over the open end of your tube. You can then either shine a torch through the other end or an adult could help cut a hole to pop their phone torch in.
You can then see your image appear on the wall! You could make a story with your pictures or even build a den and shine them in there.
I hope you have fun making your shadow pictures and I look forward to seeing all your photos.
Kirsty 😊

P2/3 Literacy – Wednesday 29th April 2020

Good morning everyone,

This morning remember to take part in #PEwithJoe, stay active and workout!

For literacy today, I would like everyone to read 10 pages of their chosen book. Have a think about what you think is going to happen next? What do you predict ?

  1. Where are your characters going next?
  2. What is going to happen?

Write your prediction down in your jotter. Read the next 10 pages. Were you right?

Miss Hamill 🙂

PM Writing Task – The Big Tree

Today we are learning more about words and sentences.  Have a look at the story above.  The text in blue is extra information to make the story more detailed and interesting to read.

Asking the children to read/listen to the sentences then:

  • Talk about the blue text and what additional information it adds to the story.
  • Identify the sentences that tell us who is in the story, where the story is set and when it takes place.
  • Identify the sentences that describe what happened first, then and after that.
  • Talk about how the writer felt about the big tree.

Next, look inside your pack for “The Big Tree – Activity 4”.

recount_big_tree_activity 4

The purpose of this activity is to complete sentences by writing the past tense verbs played, looked and liked.  When you are finished make sure you read each sentence back to yourself to ensure it makes sense.  In the box at the bottom, please draw a detailed picture that illustrates the story.  Remember to add lots of detail.

After all your hard work why not cuddle up on the couch to listen to today’s chapter of ‘Fing’ read by David Walliams?
