P1 Tuesday 12th May – Numeracy

Hello again!

Tune in to Elevenses with David Walliams at our regular milk and story time of 11.00am

http://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

  • A number bond to 10 means a pair of numbers that give the total 10.
  • For example, 5 + 5 =10, 8 + 2 = 10, 4 + 6 = 10.
  • Let’s warm up for today by joining in with this “Friends of Ten” song to help us learn the number bonds for 10

  • Today we are going to try to identify all the pairs of numbers that make 10
  • How many different ways can you think of to make 10?
  • Try to learn the rhyme from this power point to help you remember the pairs

Number bonds to 10

  • Now look at the worksheet below and record the calculations with your answers in your jotter

  • You could use the interactive Rekenrek to help or use 10 cubes, counters, beads etc

To finish off, make the pipes add up to 10 and turn the wheel to Save the Whale in this game.

  • Share them with a family member
  • Complete the 3 oa activities on Study Ladder and remember to do the tutorial first
  • Now choose 3 oa words write a sentence for each one on your jotter e.g. My new coat is red.
  • Try to make your sentence more interesting by including an adjective or a connective – and, but, so, because, then  e.g. My new coat is red and has pockets.
  • Remember to use a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end of each sentence
  • Don’t forget to write neatly

Miss McLuckie

A1- Craft activity/Make a bug.

Good Afternoon A1, I hope you are all having a good Monday and enjoyed Miss McLuckie’s  scavenger hunt!

I hope you found some interesting bugs and flowers. I thought we could try making our own bugs. There are a couple of examples below.

Things you will need :

  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape
  • Felt pens

If you don’t have coloured paper you can use your felt pens to colour your caterpillar. Similarly you can draw on the eyes if you don’t have any the googly ones.

If you fancy having a go a something a little more complicated why not try this one below.

You may not have seen many caterpillars in your gardens, do you know why? Yes you guessed it, they have turned into Butterflies!

You could have a go at creating your own butterfly. You could use anything you want, paper, junk from your recycling bin or just paint a lovely picture. I would love to see your creations! You could post your bugs on our Twitter page or Email them to Mrs Bryce. Have fun.

Maisie.

This afternoon I would like you to go on a Spring-themed Scavenger hunt! you can either print off this sheet Spring Scavenger Hunt or you could make your own sheet to cross off what you find. I will be taking my little girl on the Scavenger hunt too and we are excited to see what we can find.

P2/3 HWB – Monday 11th May 2020

During this uncertain time, it is very important that we keep healthy, active and spend time with the people that we love.

Your health and well-being task this week is a task that you can complete with your family members.

I challenge you to make heart shaped cookies and give them to the people you love.

Ingredients

  • 100g butter, softened
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 170g plain flour
  • Ready made coloured icing tubes and edible decorations (optional)

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/160°C Fan/Gas Mark 4 and line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
  • Beat the butter and sugar until pale and creamy, and work in the flour to make a stiff dough. You may find it easier to do this with your hands.
  • Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Roll out to the thickness of a pound coin, and using well-floured heart shape cutters, stamp out a dozen hearts.
  • Carefully transfer to the baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Leave to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes to firm up, before transferring to a wire cooling rack.
  • Once they are completely cool, decorate with the ready made icing. You could pipe alternating dots or your own pattern or sprinkle with some edible decorations.

Enjoy!

Miss Hamill 🙂
