A1 and P1 Literacy Tasks 22/05/20

Good morning boys and girls!

I hope you are all well!  Let’s start our day with PE with Joe.  I wonder what he will be dressed up as today?

In literacy today we are learning about rhyme.  To start us off, lets sing ‘Incy Wincy Spider’.  Afterwards, talk to a family member and see if you can you identify all of the words that rhyme.

Next, have a look at pages 16 and 17 of the ‘Exciting Learning Opportunities’ booklet below:

Now, lets learn some some new vocabulary as we read the facts about spiders and talk about them with a family member.

Can you make your own spider out of bits and bobs you find in your home?  Send us pictures of your creation!

Can you research spiders using the internet or a non-fiction book you have at home?  Write down your interesting facts in your school closure jotter.

Can you make your own spiders web by drawing or weaving?

Now, back to rhyme… listen to this other song that has a spider in it.  Can you identify the rhyming words?

To finish, lets listen to this lovely story about a busy spider by Eric Carle:

I hope you enjoyed learning about rhyme and spiders and I hope you have learned some new words today! When you are out playing in your garden over the weekend, have a look to see if you can find any spiders or spiders webs.  If you find any, take some photos and we can share them on the school blog!

Good morning boys and girls!

Let’s do PE with Joe live at 9am.

Now it’s time for PM writing!  Have another look at and discuss these pictures, labels and key words:

In your pack, you will find “The Bird and the Cat – Activity 2”.  It’s time to complete that now.

The purpose of today’s activity is to practise writing the high frequency words ‘into’, ‘big’ and ‘little’ in isolation and to complete sentences.  Remember to read your sentences over to ensure they make sense.  Happy writing!

A1 and P1 Art 19/05/20

Good afternoon boys and girls!

We loved your leafy animals so much last week that we thought we would stick with the nature animal theme.  Today, we are going to create an animal using stones.  You can choose whether you want to paint or chalk your stones or you might want to arrange different stones to make your animal.  Use your imagination and get creative!

We cannot wait to see what you make!  Please send us pictures of your finished animal.

Narrative Language – Tuesday 19th May

Good afternoon P1 and A1,

This afternoon I have another narrative language task for you to complete. This week we are going to focus on when.

First I would like you to listen to our story for today which is Night Monkey, Day Monkey by Julia Donaldson.

Then I have written some questions for your parent or carer to ask you.

  • When do you give each other presents?
  • When do we need to see a dentist?
  • When do we see fireworks in the sky?
  • When do we brush our teeth?
  • When do we go to bed?
  • When does it snow?
  • When do we play with our friends?
  • When do we need to see a doctor?
  • When do we go to school?

Finally, I would like for you and your parent or carer to get a calendar and have a look through it and see if you can pick out special events and when they happen. Things like birthdays and holidays.

Hope you have fun with these activities this afternoon!
