P1/A1 Wednesday 22nd April – Shape

Good morning everyone, hope you enjoyed your PM writing task today.

Remember to listen in to Elevenses with David Walliams at our usual milk and story time of 11.00am.

http://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

Today we are going to investigate 3D or solid shapes as they are also called.

  • First watch and listen to this short clip explaining what 3D shapes are.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjv39j6/articles/zcsjqty

  • Now sing along with this fun 3D shape song to learn about cubes, cones, spheres and cylinders.

  • What do you notice about each different shape?
  • Talk to an adult about them.
  • Go on a 3D shape hunt around your home and see how many of these shapes you can spot in everyday objects e.g. box – cube,  orange -sphere, washing machine – cuboid, tin of beans – cylinder etc.
  • Ask an adult if they can help you take some photos of the 3D objects you have found and perhaps you could share these with us
  • Next complete page 7 of your TeeJay Shape Workbook (A9)
  • Play this matching game with an adult who will help you to read the names of the 3D shapes

  • Finish off by playing the Shape Shoot Game – remember to click on the 3D shapes part

Hope you had fun!

A1 and P1 Literacy Task 22/04/20

Good morning boys and girls!

How are you all this morning?  I can’t wait to see your spring hand print paintings you made yesterday!   I hope you are all ready for PE with Joe again at 9am.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evqn3sgS1lU

After you have done your exercises, remember to have a big drink of water before settling down to this morning’s PM writing task.

Today we are continuing to learn about sentences.  Have a look at the story above.  Let’s recap on what we learned last week by asking the children to read/listen to the sentences then:

  • Identify the sentences that tell us who is in the story and where the story is set.
  • Identify the sentences that describe what happened first, then and after that.
  • Talk about how the writer felt about the big tree.

Next, look inside your pack for “The Big Tree – Activity 3”.

The purpose of this activity is to use nouns to complete sentences and to use nouns to label an image.  You can use the word bank at the side to help you.  When you are finished make sure you read each sentence back to yourself to ensure it makes sense.  Remember to write your name and date at the top.  Take your time and use your neatest handwriting!

P1/A1 Tuesday 21st April – Art

Good afternoon everyone, we hope you have enjoyed your morning.

Since spring is definitely in the air, we thought you might like to create some spring flowers pictures using yourown handprints.

You could use paint, crayons, coloured pencils or you could cut and stick some different types of paper or use your own idea.

Here are some photos for inspiration!

We would love you to share some of your pictures with us.

Thank you, Mrs Topping and Mrs Bryce

A1 and P1 Oral Narrative

Good afternoon boys and girls!

I hope you have all had a lovely morning and enjoyed your lunch.

Time for a story!  Please watch ‘And Then It’s Spring’ written by Julie Fogliano and illustrated by Erin E. Stead.

https://watch.vooks.com/seasonal/videos/and-then-its-spring

Now, talk to a family member about the different things that happen in Spring.  How does the weather change?  How do our gardens change?  What changes do we need to make to our clothing after winter?

Lastly, go out into your garden and take a photo or collect some things that represent Spring!  Can you make  picture with your findings?  We would love to see what you make!

Have fun!  Mrs Bryce and Mrs Topping

A1- P1 Craft Activity – Let’s Make Music!!

Good afternoon boys and girls I hope you are all having a good day and enjoying your home school tasks today! I was watching the ‘One World’ concert on TV last night and had a thought, we all love music and it makes us smile.  So I thought why don’t we make our own instruments at home, using any junk/recycling we have. You could make drums from tin cans, shakers with plastic bottles and rice or lentils( if your parents agree), microphones or like me a guitar! I have  a link to a video below that will give you some ideas but just use your imagination. Please, Please, email them or put them on twitter if you can.

We could maybe even have our own concert!!

Here is the Guitar I made!

Good afternoon A1

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the sunshine.

If you have managed to get out for your daily exercise you may have noticed lots of rainbows in windows, so I thought we would base our STEM experiments around rainbows this afternoon!

There are 3 different experiments for you to try, all you need is kitchen roll and water, baking soda, vinegar and food colouring (things I hope you have in your house already).

Rainbow Science Experiments

If you can upload your pictures to Twitter or send some photos to Mrs Bryce I would live to see how you get on.
