Well it’s our favourite day of the week again, YAY! Enjoy the rest of your learning tasks this morning and have a fabby weekend!
Today I thought we could try a very simple experiment which shows the importance of using soap when washing your hands! As we all know it is very important to wash our hands properly, especially just now.
Items you will need:
Plate
Water
Washing up liquid
pepper
Instructions:
Pour the water on to the plate.
Wait for the water to settle then sprinkle some pepper onto it.
Put a finger into the water and see how the pepper sticks to your finger.
Wash your hands and put a little washing up liquid on your finger then put your finger back into the water and watch the pepper move away to the side of the plate quickly.
Cool isn’t it!
This is my daughter having a go! A very simple explanation for this is that the soap chases the pepper away!
There are other cool experiments you can do with washing up liquid, have a look at the link below.
It has been quite warm outside this week so for food technology today, lets make these easy homemade lollies to help us stay cool.
This recipe makes 4 large lollies but may make more if your moulds are small. Suitable for vegetarians.
Ingredients
4 drops vanilla extract
2 tsp runny honey
270g/9½oz Greek-style yogurt
50g/2oz fresh raspberries, mashed
100g/4oz fresh strawberries, mashed
Method
In a bowl, mix the vanilla extract and honey into the yogurt. Stir in the fruit and fruit juices with a spatula to create a swirling pattern.
Divide the mixture equally among four lollipop moulds. Cover with the lids or with aluminium foil.
Freeze the disco pops overnight.
Recipe Tips
Tip: If you don’t have any lollipop moulds, use empty, cleaned yogurt pots. Once you have covered the pots with aluminium foil, pierce each foil covering with a lollipop stick and push until the stick reaches the base of the pot.
Let’s see how many tricky words you can read. Shout them out when they come up on the screen! Pick 5 that you don’t know and write them into your jotter t help you remember them for next time.
Good afternoon, I hope you have all had a good morning and have been enjoying the sunshine.
I have a science experiment you can try out and you should end up with your very own DIY lava lamp. I’m looking forward to hearing how you get on and to see your lava lamp pictures.
