Last week of term

Here are our comments about our excursion to The Forth Bridges visitor centre…

Our trip this week was very interesting. The visitor centre was quite big. At the Rail bridge restaurant we could see the Rail bridge easily. Trying on the safety equipment was fun. We learned alot.

Church service comments…

We liked singing all the Easter songs in the church. We liked the Three Trees story. The junior choir sang exceptionally well.

The Golden Club event… We loved the event.

This week …

We are on the last week of term. It is busy because we have our excursion tomorrow to South Queensferry Visitor Centre.

We have the Church service on Thursday morning and we have the Golden Club event for many of the class on Thursday afternoon.What an excitng last week of term…

Our comments:-

Teighan,Megan,Robert,Alfie B., Sophia, Ben, Denholm, Kay – We can’t wait until we go to The visitor centre at South Queensferry tomorrow

Connor, Euan- We are looking forward to the trip tomorrow and having lunch in the Rail Bridge restaurant in South Queensferry

Jason-I can’t wait to see the bridges tomorrow

Kiara,Sam-  We’re excited for the church service this Thursday

Ava,Sophie, Alfie G.- We can’t wait to sing “As one” in the church on Thursday

P4/3 are working to their potential

We have been very busy learning about Magnetism, The Easter Story, A tour aroon Scotland, The loch Ness Monster myth, Reading for information, Our Emotions at The Gathering, Book Week and Symmetry in Maths to name just a few !

Alfie, Sophie, Kiara, Euan, Jason- In Drama we were practising the Easter Songs and we started a play that had a twist

Sophia, Lauren, Megan, Connor- In Drama this week we were given parts for a new play

Mia, Gemma, Liam, Denholm, Robert,Ben-This week we were writing newspaper articles about The Loch Ness Monster. We had to write if we thought it was real or not !

Emma, Kay, Jess, Alfie B., Sam- We liked The P1a Assembly on dinosaurs today. We were part of the quality audience

Teighan-I liked dressing up as Mackenzie from” Dork Diaries” because it was Dress Down Day and you could be a book character

Suvi- I dressed up as Maid Marion from ” Robin Hood” today as it was Dress Down Day and also Book Week

Ava- I liked being dressed in my normal clothes today for Dress Down Day….I paid my £1 !

Oliver, Erin- We  liked our little sisters ‘ Assembly this morning on Dinosaurs

New Learning in P4/3

We learned lots this week in class, groups  and as individuals.

Here are our comments:-

Sophie, Alfie and Ava said we learned new songs at the choir on Tuesday.

Sophia, Mia, Lauren,Robert learned in Maths that the 9 times tables goes down in units and up in tens with Miss Davidson

We learned the numbers before zero in Maths-Denholm, Gemma

In Science in Magnetism we learned that magnets can attract nails through card-Jason, Erin, Kay, Kiara

In PE we learned that the air you breathe acts as fuel-Emma, Connor

In RME with Mrs Innes we learned about the Easter Story-Megan, Teighan, Liam, Alfie B

Lots of new ways of learning in P4/3

Busy days in P4/3….We learned that there are magnets in cows …imagine that !

We also learned a shepherd called Magnes discovered magnetism about 4000 years ago in Ancient Greece.

Our writing this week was creating a leaflet about Caring for a pet…We all worked so hard to produce neat, colourful easy to read leaflets.

In Maths we have been consolidating our times tables(the Hexagons) , measuring accurately with a metre stick (the Rectangles) or a ruler( the Pentagons). We have also been working on our Mental Maths strategies.

Lots of learning in P4/3

We have busy this week learning new Scottish words. We also found we could watch the building of the new Bridge at South Queensferry ” The Queensferry Crossing” with a live webcam..How exciting is that ? We felt like we were witnessing history in the making !

Our story writing this week was about being zoologists and finding Scottish animals and taking them back to the zoo where we worked…some wrote about the grey seal and the red deer and lots of others…

A week of Scots

We have been busy learning our Scots poems by JK Annand or Margaret Hamilton.

We worked hard on our lines and actions. We were excited for the class final on Thursday. Mrs Aitken found it very difficult to choose three finalists.

Well done everyone. You have made me very proud of all your efforts !

Our story writing this week was in the style of Matthew Fitt’s story “Jordan’s new jaiket”…Come in and read them on our walls ! Some are even on the door of the class.

We started looking at a dvd about Scotland in the past and we saw lots of times when it was covered in ice ….

In art we used different medium to create landscapes of Scotland…we used lots of greens, blue and white with a touch of red….the paintings look really effective.

Welcome back P4/3 !

This has been a short week back to school after our Christmas holidays…we have been busy getting back into work mode !

Primary 3 were all very lucky to take part in a NYCOS workshop – leaflets were handed out on the day.

All children now have their Scots poem to learn by Thursday 14th January when 3 finalists from the class will be chosen to take part in school final on Monday 18th January-good luck everyone !

The class started The gingerbread man in Scots this week with Mrs Innes in Expressive Arts…sounds so much fun !

CHRISTMAS IS COMING FOR P4/3

What a busy last week we have had in school….

We watched the Pantomime on Tuesday and some of us were very lucky to go to the Golden Club event on Thursday.  Our junior choir sang to parents after school on Tuesday… We were extremely  proud to have our choir broadcast on Radio Forth on Thursday morning…Well done everyone.

CHRISTMAS IN BALBARDIE -P4/3

What exciting times in school this week which ended with a superb Christmas Assembly by P6b and musical interlude by the strings group.

We started with Christmas lunch wearing our Christmas jumpers….some were of trees and even one was like a reindeer….

We know our Christmas carols extremely well for the church service on Friday. We love singing Come with us and also Angels.

We watched The forgotten Toys as a hook for our story writing this week. It is a really good film if you haven’t already watched it. We would recommend it to everyone !

At the P6b Assembly this morning we loved the song Rudolf the red nosed reindeer-Ava, Lauren, Robert, Liam

I loved the Assembly and the strings group-Sophia

We loved wearing our Christmas jumpers this week-Oliver, Emma, Jess, Gemma, Teighan

We enjoyed watched Primary 3/2s Assembly this morning.It was all about Under the Sea-Euan,Emma

We enjoyed watching the Wriggly Nativity yesterday during Drama. We were the quality audience-Sam,Liam,Connor,Denholm,Alfie B.

I enjoyed learning some french words for Christmas like une cheminee(fireplace) and Noel(Christmas)- Jason

I liked making my winter figure ..it will look funny when my picture is stuck on it !- Jess

We liked being dressed down today – Ava,Ben, Oliver

 

What a busy week we have had….lots of exciting learning has taken place in Numeracy  – lots of Mental Maths training this week to help us speed up in our calculations. In Literacy this week we wrote a story about Justino. He was our main character in our story. He was a funny but helpful caring man. We described him with adjectives so we could imagine him clearly. In French we started learning some Christmas words eg Le Pere Noel and Noel ( Father Christmas and Christmas). We also started looking at weather in French aswell. …Il neige ( it’s snowing )and Il gele(it’s icy). We are all singing The Christmas Carols for the Church Service every day and know them very well now 🙂 We all like the dress down Fridays ! Home Learning due in Monday , thank you !

Primary 4/3

Busy week…

We have written our letters to our penpals in New York. We look forward to our replies.

We are loving practising the Christmas Carols for the church service. We have worked exceptionally hard on our reindeer frames for the fayre. They cost £1 only !

Maths has been challenging this week …working on fractions and large numbers and patterns in numbers.

In Literacy we planned our letters then tried our very best to write it out neatly to send to New York. We were also developing our listening and talking skills with Miss Davidson.

French is becoming easier to order our lunch and sing a few songs. Next week we are going to look

at the weather in French-Le temps !

P4/3 are successful learners

We have worked hard this week on times tables in Maths. Our story writing was about characters. We used paintings by Degas as our stimulus. We have been practising our Assembly for next Friday. In practical Maths we have been working on Money with Mrs Waddell.  Our class novel is “Devon the naughtiest dog in the world” by Jon Katz. As it was Remembrance day on Wednesday we watched our Junior and Senior choir sing and share facts about the war. Well done to Ava, Alfie G. and Sophie who sang clearly and confidently in our Junior choir.

I liked the Bonfire story …I was Star Writer this week for the Sentences. I read my story to Mrs Hay-Connor

I liked the Bonfire story Kai the Ninja was my character who came to the bonfire with me-Alfie B.

I’ve enjoyed my story this week. My character was Agnes from Despicable Me.She  came to the bonfire with me -Sophie

I liked my story writing this week. I read to Primary 6. My character was Alice In Wonderland-Megan

We liked the Big Balbardie Blether today.It was about Golden Time and the Golden Club events-Ben,Euan,Sophia,Oliver,Jason,Lauren, Gemma

I liked working on the netbooks making the circuits complete with Kiara-Ava

I liked story writing this week. I had Jay from Lego Ninjago as my character-Denholm

We liked watching the Primary 7 plays at Drama-Emma,Suvi

I was Star Writer this week for my bonfire story. I read it to Mrs Hay-Jess

I liked using Knex for our Science this week. I was working with Jess-Kiara

I was working on the netbooks. I had to build circuits and not overload plugs. I was working with Sophie-Sam

I liked sharing my project on the local area .It was the Regal theatre that I had made-Robert

We liked everything this week-Alfie G. Mia, Teighan, Erin

I liked Mrs Waddell coming into our class on Monday- Kay
