Welcome back P5b-Happy New Year !

Welcome back Primary 5b ! Hope you had a super time off…

Our first week back has been very busy with Scottish poems and our Assembly taking up lots of time. We have been reciting poetry, singing Scottish songs and learning about different famous people who were born in Scotland….

Kyle- I enjoyed making the poster for Donald where’s your troosers -for our Assembly

Alfie B., Brooke,Ellie Rose and Ellie – We enjoyed Baking for Golden Time this week

Rory and Shaun-We enjoyed Symmetry work with Mrs Rodger

Noami- I enjoyed using tissue to colour the highland cow as part of our Scottish Assembly work

Orla,Liam and Annie- We enjoyed learning  about Greyfriars Bobby this week as part of our Scottish focus work

We have had a very busy last week of 2018.

O what fun we are having in P5b…

What another busy week in Primary 5b. We have had an amazing party with the other P5 class.

We had Music Appreciation using songs from Christmas time that we had to compare and listen for different instruments.

Some of us went to the Nativity this morning-it was superb!

We finished our Lost Toy stories and watched some of Annabelle’s Wish where we had to predict what would happen next.

We have been working hard on Place Value and Mental Maths.

Here are our comments:-

Owen-Music Appreciation was fun when we scored the songs out of 5

Alfie L. , Bryce, Aaron- Silent ball was fun

Liam- I liked writing The lost toy story

Max-Mental Maths -I got 10/10

Rory- Mental Maths- I got 8/10

Alfie B.- I enjoyed Mental Maths because I got a good score

Ellie, Florence, Ruby, Dylan, Charlotte, Annie, Noami, Lewis, Orla, Holly, Eva, Jamie, Ellie Rose – We enjoyed our Christmas party

Olivia- I enjoyed playing all the games at our Christmas party

Kyle- I enjoyed finding Christmas words for all the letters of the alphabet

Primary 5b’s busy week

Primary 5b had a very busy week. They took part in Destination Judo and a Handball festival. They wore Christmas jumpers and ate a tasty Christmas lunch.

They used Technology skills on an elf and they even played Silent Ball…

Destination Judo taster -P5b

Primary 5b had such fun at Destination Judo this morning…it was fast paced and exciting for all who took part.

Partner work was great and learning was 100% especially when practical sessions were happening.

What a fantastic taster session-flyers given out showed all the venues from Bathgate to Armadale or Livingston…

First session at these venues is free…why don’t you give it a try ?

P7a’s first term thoughts…

What a busy first term in Primary 7. We have worked regularly with our buddies. We have had 2 visits from the Maths dept at Bathgate Academy. We have loved learning about Amazonia and enjoyed Cool Creatures visiting our class and allowing us to see and hold the animals up very close- Amazing !

We have worked extremely hard in Literacy especially Creative Writing recognising a plan is a necessity and neat writing is always a must. We have written about A view from a window, A key , A rainforest experience and a letter of thanks to Callum from Cool Creatures.

Ty,Kirsten- We enjoyed The Maths Dept coming to teach us

Tom,Liam,Lucie,Harvey,Jennie,Zoe,Samantha- We enjoyed Bathgate Academy open evening

Sam- I ‘ve liked Creative Writing

Rowan- I’ve enjoyed Writing and being Star Writer

Abbie- I enjoyed being Pupil of the Week

Caitlin- I enjoyed meeting my P1 buddy and working with them

Lennox-I’ve enjoyed having the responsibility of being a House Captain and taking on lots of jobs

P7a’s week of learning

This week has been exciting -we waited with trepidation for Cool Creatures to visit on Wednesday afternoon.

Here are our comments:-

Harvey,Yasmin,Ty- We liked the snake because it was so smooth to touch

Sam,Zoe- We liked the armadillo because it was so cute

Kirsten,Lucie,Eva- We liked the civit because it was nice and soft and was still a young one

Caitlin- I liked the tortoise because it is one of my favourite animals

Naomi- I liked the tortoise because it seemed to give me a high 5!

Sophie,Brooklyn- We liked holding the snake because it was really soft

Kate,Ross,Ciaran,Abbie- We liked holding the snake with our group

Tom,Dyllan- We liked the albino python

Alanna- I enjoyed the armadillo. Elle was her name

Holly-  I wished I’d been there as I’d have enjoyed holding the snake

Ashleigh,Rhia-We enjoyed watching the civit climbing all over Callum the owner of Cool Creatures

Rowan,Samantha- We liked stroking Mango the civit.She was really soft

Literacy-Creative writing this week was all about An unusual Pet- We had to choose between a capybara or armadillo

On Friday we invited parents in to see our Learning.It was all about VCOP.We played Punctuation games, wrote on a graffiti wall of VCOP, made ambitious vocabulary cubes, played a connective game and used interesting openers to hook the reader in.

P7a

This week has been so busy preparing for the MacMillan coffee morning- some of us made posters to advertise the coffee morning and some of us set up on Thursday afternoon…

On Friday morning from 9.10-10.30 many of us were working on stalls and clearing tables, being photographers and ringing the bell between classes !!! It was a busy time for all concerned.

We all enjoyed juice and cakes at our time and some of us bought pocket money toys and helped raise more money for the important charity.

Our phrase of the week for French was Comment t’appelles tu?

In Art we have been working with chalks on our rainforest creatures- they look fantastic.

Creative writing was all about An adventure to the rainforest where we had to imagine we were biologists given funding to study an animal in its habitat in one of the rainforests for a month. We had to remember to hook the reader in with an exciting opening paragraph.

Maths at the moment is all about place value, speedy Mental Maths and Percentages- lots of Number talks to help challenge our thinking.

In P7a we have been learning…

It was a busy week.We even had time for Cosmic Yoga on Monday.

We prepared the classroom for Meet the teacher on Wednesday. It was a great success.

We were working in teams today in PE. It was team dodge ball-Alanna,Lennox,Jack

We worked on Maths sheets this week too-Abbie

We had a Spelling test this week.We liked doing that-Ciaran,Kirsten,Brooklyn,Sophie

We liked buddy time this week.We spent time in their P1 classrooms playing games-Tom,Liam

In French we were making posters about classroom items eg la gomme, la regle, le crayon-Rowan,Lucy

We had Cosmic Yoga on Monday instead of Outdoor PE as it was raining-Lucie, Jennie, Yasmin, Harvey

Nina-I enjoyed Disney Land and I was excited to come back to school for the last 2 days to see my friends

Jess-In nearly two weeks I am off to Majorca…It will really good fun as I will be going swimming

Eden-I am excited for my holidays I am going to Menorca the same time as Jess. I am looking forward to going to the water park

Lily-I am excited because I am going to Little Mix Concert tonight with Grace

Dylan- I am looking forward to going to my dad’s to see all my friends

Grace- I am super excited to go to Florida in a week

Kaycee- I am excited to go to Sri Lanka in the holidays

Florence- I am excited because I am going to Turkey

Ross-I am looking forward to going to Ibiza in the holidays

Archie- I am looking forward to Florida in the holidays at the same time as Grace

Eva- I am looking forward to Zante in Greece

Sophie S.-I am looking forward to Blackpool maybe next week

Niamh- I am looking forward to the holidays. I don’t know where I am going yet

Katie- I can’t wait to got to Spain and it is right next to the beach. There is also a swimming pool

What an Assembly !!

We worked hard to prepare for the last Assembly of the school year, this morning. We spoke about LAC ( A tour aroon Scotland), Expressive Arts, French, Literacy, Health and Maths. We sang some songs too-Welcome, Celebrate, Leon le cameleon, Fly butterfly Fly and The Rap for The Gingerbreid mannie. We dressed in our party clothes as it was a celebration of P3/2. We loved it !

Luis- I enjoyed jumping out and saying ” Let’s celebrate”

Eva- I liked hearing “Happy” at the beginning of the Assembly

Grace- I enjoyed saying the facts about The Queensferry Crossing

Eden- I enjoyed saying my lines

Sophie M.- I enjoyed starting off the Assembly with my lines

Lily- I liked singing my solo during the Expressive Arts part on Caterpillar Boogie

P3/2 thoughts…

In our P3/2 ‘Healthy Lives’ topic:

 

Zara – I got to try different kinds of banana.  My favourite was the banana loaf and the cereal bar.

Kaycee – My favourite banana was the banana loaf.  It was delicious.

Florence – We got to learn about food labels.  Foods contain protein, carbohydrates and fats.

Ellie – I liked tasting different kinds of banana because some of them were new to me.

Grace – I liked the banana tasting at our own breakfast bar.  It was great fun.

Sophie – I enjoyed learning about Fair Trade yesterday.  I had never heard of this before.

Katie – I really enjoyed Golden Time this week because I had so much fun with Sophie.

Isla – I am the same as Zara.  I loved all the different ways to enjoy a banana.

Ross – This week I enjoyed doing the parachute challenge in outdoor PE.

Luis – I liked doing the food label poster on Tuesday.   I created a poster about ice cream and found out about nutrition.

Rory – I have had a very fun and active week in outdoor PE and playing in the play ground

Max – I liked play outside in outdoor PE as well.

Archie – I liked doing outdoor PE yesterday because it was fun because we got to go in the parachute.

Jess – I liked doing the human body in health and wellbeing,

Eden – I liked eating different kinds of banana yesterday.  I found out that you can get a red banana.

Harris – I would like to wish everybody going into High School ‘Goodbye’ and ‘all the best’.

Eva – I liked learning about bananas because we got to try all the different kinds.

Lily – In outdoor PE we got to play extreme tunnel tig to warm up.

P3/2 ‘s news

We have been so busy this week ..we met our new teachers in P3 or P4. We had a great day.

We have worked so hard in Maths, Literacy,Drama, PE ,Technology, LAC(healthy bodies) and preparing for our Class Assembly.

Here are our comments:

Eden – I have really enjoyed maths this week because I have been learning about money.  Tomorrow I am looking forward to spending some of my money on sweeties.

Ross – I enjoyed the ‘show me now’ game in maths because it was fun.  I am looking forward to my summer holidays because I am going to Ibiza.

Zara – I enjoyed visiting my new teacher this week for moving on day because she is fun.  I am looking forward to my friends coming over to my house today after school.

Grace – I enjoyed meeting my teacher this week who was the old P5 teacher,Mr Cunngnham.  I am looking forward to Volcano Bay for my summer holidays in Florida.

Lily – I enjoyed meeting my new teacher this week at Moving on day because we tried some really cool maths games.  Today I am going to Crieff Hydro.

Harris – I enjoyed having Mr Cunningham this week because my friend used to be in his class last year.  I am looking forward to my summer holiday in Turkey this year.  BUCK! BUCK!

Kaycee – I liked meeting my new class this week where I was downstairs and upstairs too in the Hub.  I am looking forward to seeing what my new classroom looks like after the summer.

Jess – I also enjoyed meeting my teacher this week because he was fun and I am also excited to get some sweets at Kelly’s sweet shop tomorrow.

Rory – I enjoyed having Mrs Little for moving on day.  I am also really excited to go on holiday to Bulgaria on the last day of school.

Katie – I enjoyed going to Mrs Little because I am still with Zara and Mrs Little plays the drums.  I am also looking forward to Spain this year for my holiday.

Sophie M – I enjoyed meeting my teacher because some of my old friends from P3/2 are still there like Archie.  I am also looking forward to going on holiday on the last day of school.

Eva – I was lucky to meet two new class teachers this week.   I am excited to go and see Zara today with Florence after school.

Archie – I enjoyed meeting my teacher because my sister used to have him.  I am looking forward to be in a whole P3 class after summer.

Max – I liked seeing my new classroom on moving on day and I am looking forward to going to my caravan in summer.

Dylan – I have enjoyed having Lucas coming over to my house this week.  We are all going swimming this weekend which should be fun.

Nina – I am looking forward to visiting America this summer.   I will try and bring back some sweets for the class.  I have also enjoyed maths this week because I like working with coins.

Ellie – I am looking forward to our class Assembly next Friday.  This week I enjoyed doing maths because I like learning about money and coins.

Isla – I am excited for our class Assembly and my holiday in Belgium with my Mum.  This week I have enjoyed maths because I have been doing really well this week as it was money.

Florence – I am excited to go in my new class after summer because it will be somewhere new and different.  I enjoyed maths this week because I like learning about money.

Luis – I enjoyed maths this week because I have been learning about money which was super fun trying to add up all the coins.  I am looking forward to our class Assembly next Friday.

P2b’s Assembly

We loved our Assembly this morning. We loved sharing our learning with all the school and friends and family.We had all our light houses on display. We made them as a Home Learning Challenge. Some of us even had lights inside them!

After the Assembly we enjoyed juice and a biscuit and time with adults who had been in the audience watching us. We liked that bit too !

Our busy week in P3/2

It was a busy week in school.

We took part in Celebrating Success on Tuesday. We were all excited to share our song Every body. We sang and played a variety of instruments. We had a huge clap afterwards from the other classes and the parents and friends who came to see it. We were a quality audience for all the other classes too.

This week was also Outdoor Learning Day on Thursday. We always go outside for Outdoor PE on a Thursday afternoon so it was different as we did art aswell as PE. We used equipment and we drew each other holding either a ball,hula hoop or quoit and we had time to explore them to with a partner.

Here are our comments this week:

Nina- I liked our Celebrating Success Assembly this week and I got a certificate for “Being kind helpful and caring in class and in the playground.” My mum said well done !

Jess- I enjoyed Celebrating Success.Our song was “Every body”

Zara- I liked getting my certificate for Excellence in the Performing Arts. When I went home we had a special dinner and the day after I had a sweetie for snack as a special treat.

Ross- I enjoyed getting Head teacher’s Award for being great in all areas of the Curriculum.

Dylan – I got a certificate for my reading.

Isla-I liked Outdoor Learning. I drew Nina using a quoit(rubber ring).

Sophie S.- I enjoyed the P3 song ” We’re all in this together!”

Eden- I liked my cousin’s song ” Arc en ciel”.

Ellie-I liked playing the djembe in our Celebrating Success Assembly.

Niamh- I liked in Outdoor Learning drawing Sophie. She was using a hula hoop.

Kaycee-We also played the eggs(shakers) in our Celebrating Success Assembly. I played  maracas.

Harris-I liked sketching my partner Ellie in Outdoor Learning. She was using a hula hoop.

Archie- I liked Outdoor Learning. I had a spiky quoit. I drew Luis then he drew me.

Max- I liked Outdoor Learning joined with PE. I drew Rory. He was using the quoit.

Katie-I liked drawing Zara. She was holding a hula hoop then she drew me. We had to come back inside because it started hailstones.

Sophie M.-I was drawing Florence in Outdoor Learning. She was holding a hula hoop, then she drew me.

Grace- I loved getting my certificate at Celebrating Success. I got mine for a high standard of work across all areas of the Curriculum.

Florence-I liked drawing Sophie at Outdoor Learning and she was holding the quoit then she drew me. We used chalk to draw each other.

Eva- I liked doing Outdoor Learning with Kaycee. We both held the quoit and then we decided to hold a tortoise from the ball box and we drew each other again.

Lily- I liked going out for Outdoor PE.My partner was Grace. We drew each other then we had  time to use the equipment.

Luis- I liked being Archie’s partner for Outdoor Learning. We used the hula hoops. We drew with chalk.

Rory- I liked Celebrating Success. I liked P2b’s Performance.

HEALTHY LIVING IN P3/2

What a busy week we have had. We have guessed different fruit and vegetables. We have looked at the skeleton and sang a Skeleton song. We sketched fruit using wax crayons. We wrote about a healthy day and we presented our Healthy life as a powerpoint to the class. We even answered questions about it after with confidence and skill.

Here are our comments:

Noah- The fitness circuit was fun

Lily- I like the Fitness fundraiser yesterday. My brothers came and gave everyone a High 5

Grace-I took the teddy home last night. We played Fitness class and we were marching and bouncing on Lily’s trampoline

Isla,Sophie M- We liked The Fitness class with Mr. Jeffries

Sophie S.- I liked writing the healthy life story

Eden- I liked eating apple when we were naming fruits and vegetables

Harris- This week I was excited making the skeleton with cotton buds

Archie-I liked using the tissue paper to decorate the fruit for the wall

Jess- I’m excited to do my talk ” My Healthy life”

Nina- I ‘m excited to see Jess’s talk. Mine was about  my gymnastics, swimming and football

Luis- I enjoyed Outdoor PE. We were racing each other at the back playground

Ross- I enjoyed doing the Circuit Fitness with Mr Jeffries. It was for charity

Rory- I enjoyed making the skeleton with cotton buds and glue

Niamh,Ellie.Katie- We liked making our skeletons with cotton buds, glue and we put lots of details in it aswell

Eva- We made fruit pictures. I copied a lime as I had a lime to look at

Kaycee- I like learning about healthy living as I am learning about new things

Florence,Max,Zara- I liked the Fund raiser in the main hall with Mr Jeffrie

Dylan- Yesterday I had the teddy home and we went out on my bike
