6b

It’s been another fun and busy week of great learning in 6b.

In maths we’ve been continuing our work on decimals, in particular rounding decimal numbers to the nearest whole number or tenth; it was fun and challenging but number lines were effective in helping us with our learning. Later in the week we also looked at decimal calculations, chiefly addition and subtraction, many of these were linked to our learning on money.

In writing and topic we’ve been learning and researching information about the tribal peoples of the rainforest, it was interesting to note the very different and unique ways of living these people have. We completed fact files on three different tribes from three different rainforests and will be using this information to help us with the creation of our next written task; blog writing. At the end of the week we looked at a blog the teacher had written and we colour coded the text to highlight all of the important elements contained within it.

We’ve been continuing reading our own novels this week in class, either reading independently on our tables or with the teacher. Furthermore, we’ve been continuing on our journey with Roald Dahl’s ‘Danny, the Champion of the World’ which we should finish early next week. Democracy will be in action thereafter to choose our next class novel.

In our French language learning we’ve been continuing to look at: colours, numbers (1-50), days of the week and months of the year.

Next week we will be finishing our work on decimals in maths and beginning our new topic of percentages. In literacy we will be beginning to plan our blog articles.

Have a lovely weekend!
