In January the Cushion Club turned their hand to gardening. They planted an amaryllis and over the last few weeks they have carefully tended it and watched it grow. It seemed to grow a little bit taller everyday and they were extremely careful to leave it near the light and turn it every day. Every Monday was a ‘WOW’ when they saw how much it had changed over the weekend. They have noticed that it had two flower heads and they eagerly awaited the first flower. This week the first flower head opened and it was beautiful! It was coral and cream just like the box said it would be. The amaryllis grew from a bulb. Mrs Waddell planted one at home at the same time. She is not as ‘green fingered’ as the Cushion Club children so she brought her amaryllis into school to see if the Cushion Club children could work their magic on her bulb. Sadly it doesn’t look as if it has worked! We are guessing how many flowers we will have on our Cushion Club one.
Hello Cushion Club,
Wow! The flowers are beautiful. The last time I saw your plant it looked like the flower heads were about to open. How lovely to see them open now and to see they are just like the photo on the box.
I hope your green fingers work on Mrs Waddell’s amaryllis plant too!

Hi Cushion Clubs,
WOW! I am very impressed with how well your amaryllis has grown and that this is because you have been taking great care of it. It really is beautiful. It’s a shame that Mrs Waddell’s hasn’t grown so well:(. Maybe you’ll be able to give her some tips on how to grow one like yours the next time.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.
Miss Henderson
I’m going to take mine back to Dobbies and complain. If Cushion Clubs can do it, so can I!
