What a Busy Week in P4g!

This week we picked the potatoes we planted last year for our farming topic. We then learned how to peel potatoes and chop them. Together we made potato and leek soup with a special help from Mrs Jamieson. Thank you Mrs Jamieson! It was yummy!

We painted Autumn pictures using autumn colours…red, orange, green, brown and yellow. We included autumn animals and fallen leaves.

In maths we did problem solving in our problem solving trios. We used the strategy ‘draw a picture’ to solve the problem. This involved colouring flags in different ways using only four colours. We had to make sure no two flags matched. It was tricky at first however once we worked out a pattern it became easier.

During topic, we were learning about the invention of the aeroplane by the Wright Brothers. We learned that they faced three problems when inventing: flight, control and power. We were challenged to make paper airplanes looking at the structures of our planes e.g. body, wings, tail and folding. It was a competition to see whose one went the furthest, and Ben won! His was amazing!

Lastly, we had to invent our own food or drink and think of a catchy name and slogan for it. We made an advertising poster to advertise it. It made us feel pretty hungry afterwards!

This week’s Special Person is Sarah because:

  • She thinks about other people
  • She has amazing art skills
  • She is really kind
  • She always shares
  • She isn’t afraid to say something nice
  • She is lovely
  • She is super!
  • She has lovely manners
  • She is a good friend to me (Ben)
  • She makes people laugh
  • She always wants to play and plays nicely
  • She is very helpful
  • She is confident
  • She always looks out for people especially her friends
  • She has a lovely big smile
  • She is smart
  • She is extraordinary!

 Enjoy your weekend!

  1. Hi Primary 4g,

You have had another busy week in your class. Well done, Ben on designing the aeroplane which went the furthest. I’m glad you all enjoyed the soup:). Again, you have shown what lovely friends you all are by saying such nice things about Sarah. Keep up the good work.

  2. P4g you must be working well together to achieve so much learning in one week.
The soup filled the school with a lovely smell, did it taste as good as the smell?
I hope the autumn art work is on the wall so I can see it as I pass. Will it make indoors look similar to outside?

  3. The children loved the soup Mrs Clark! Roan and Geo thank you so much for your lovely compliment! What a lovely thing to say! I’m glad you are enjoying p4 so much too!
