Skoog!

We use lots of ICT in Class 1 to help us with our learning.  We have a new resource, it is called a Skoog!   The boys in Class 1 like to say ‘Skoog’.  It is a funny word!  We enjoyed experimenting with the Skoog to make some interesting music using a variety of instruments.   The boys in Class 1 really liked the tactile element of the Skoog.  We can change the sensitivity of the Skoog to encourage gentle hands or a firmer grip.

“It is soft and smooth.” Cody

“It is hard to press now.  I think it is falling asleep.” Cameron

Cody enjoyed choosing different instruments to create sad songs and happy songs.

Cameron liked to hear the sounds of the different instruments; his favourite instruments were the oriental strings and the rock guitar!

Liam likes to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the piano.  Liam listened very carefully to the different keys on the Skoog and worked out all by himself, how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Jayden played ‘Old Macdonald Had A Farm’, by following the colours on the SMARTboard and pressing the corresponding colours on the Skoog.

Joe created some fast, energetic music and loved playing the horn and the drums!

Miss Barrie enjoyed trying to play ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by following the colours on the SMARTboard.  We are looking forward to using the Skoog again and showing our friends in class 2 and 3 how to use it!

We also enjoy using the Nintendo DS.  We can combine our drawings with recordings of our voices to create our own animations.  Liam loves to show his animations to his friends during Golden Time.  We can also link up our devices and chat to each other by typing messages.

This week went on a bear hunt!  Liam found Mr Bear sitting on the bird house, in the garden.  Liam is going to take good care of Mr Bear over the weekend and on Monday we will read Liam’s email to find out what he has been doing with Mr Bear!

  1. Hi Class 1,

I agree that the word Skoog is very funny:). It sounds like a great new activity in your class and I’m really pleased that you have all enjoyed playing with it. Was Miss Barrie any good at “Don’t Stop Believing”? Have you read the book called, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”? It is one of my favourite books.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Miss Henderson
