P2W China

This term Primary 2 have been learning all about China. To launch our learning context we created a class dragon called ‘Nian’ who hangs above the carpet watching over us.

We have been learning how to write and say 1-10 in Mandarin. We have also been learning about the Legend of the  Zodiac, we have found out that we were all born in the year of the rabbit.  The restaurant  ‘Chopstx’ has opened  in class where we can play and explore.  Here are some pictures of us working at our stations.

This term we are also using the learning lab where we are making different Chinese dishes. So far we have made spring rolls where we had to carefully measure our ingredients, mix them together and roll up the pastry. The rolling was very tricky! This week we have made egg fried rice, we had to follow the recipe very carefully to make sure we had the correct amount of ingredients.

Take a look at us cooking.

P2W – Minibeasts

Primary 2W and Primary 2A have been really busy these past few weeks learning all about minibeasts.

We have been exploring the school grounds, hunting for different minibeasts.

Working with Primary 2A, we collected lots of materials to help create new homes for  minibeasts. We thought carefully about where different minibeasts would like to live.

‘I’m creating a dark place for woodlouse to live’  Peter.

‘My minibeasts will have a nice comfy bed to sleep in’ Rose.

In maths we have been looking at patterns, we had lots of fun creating repeating minibeast patterns in the playground.

We have also really enjoyed exploring minibeasts in our investigation area!
