P6T and P6 from P5/6S have been walking to the Queen Victoria School to play volleyball with other children from Newton Primary School. They are learning new skills and techniques, making new friends and having fun!
P6 went curling at he Peak on Friday 10th of November. They learned how to brush the ice well and how to launch a curling stone. They learned why they weren’t slipping that often (the ice had bumps in it) another thing that they learned was that professional curlers have one grippy shoe and one slidy one.
The 8 Bake Off finalists went to spend some time at Cromlix House Hotel this afternoon. They were given a tour of the hotel and the garden area. The children were taught how to properly decorate cup cakes. A huge thank you to head pastry chef Balazs for teaching the children these new skills. Also thanks to Darin and Sharon for the garden tour and refreshments!
Here are the children icing their cupcakes and learning new skills by Balazs.
Here are some of the iced cakes produced by the children. A selection of roses and cactus.
We then had a tour of the Cromlix garden with Darin. We tasted some of the different herbs which are growing and the edible flowers.
Friday the 19th of May saw the final of The Great Dunblane Bake Off. All 8 children were able to independently create the cakes which were delicious and very creative. Judges came from Cromlix to look and taste the children’s cakes. They had a very difficult decision to make but they did manage to choose a winner.
Well done to all the children who took part.
