Here is the story The Smartest Giant in Town by Julia Donaldson being read by Isabell. The story is about a giant who bought new clothes for himself. He met new people who needed his help , so he gave them his new clothes and accessories in order to help them out. the story is a very easy way to teach your child about generosity and friendship.

- Use you and your child’s creativity skills to create a house for the characters in the story book. The children and staff in the nursery created a house using a shoe for a mouse today!
- Decorate your characters house, developing your child’s fine motor skills and creativity skills by using a range of materials to cut and stick down.
- Find socks and encourage your child to pair them up developing your child’s knowledge of matching and sorting.
Next Steps:
- Create role play situations with your child using their characters and their houses developing their imagination skills.
- Explore the size of socks and sort them into small medium and large to develop knowledge of size.
- Introduce mathematical language massive, huge, tiny, medium etc when discussing the size of the socks.
- Promote memory recall by encouraging your child to tell you parts of the story that they can remember sharing likes and dislikes.
