Isabell Gallacher – Early Years Worker

Hello my name is Isabell Gallacher. I have worked at Woodhill since it opened in September 2020 I am the key worker of the Cherry Tree group. I have enjoyed getting to know the children and families. I recently completed the Froebel course and have implemented my knowledge developing the garden with the help of staff children and families, we have grown herbs, vegetables and flowers.
Before working at Woodhill I have had over thirty years experience of other nurseries, playgroups after-school care, and childminding.

My hobbies and interests include caring for my two grandchildren and my three children (even though they are now grown ups !), walking my dogs Jessi and Freddie, gardening and photography.

I am looking forward to meeting all the new boys, girls and families as they start their nursery journey at Woodhill ELC.

Senga Barton – Early Years Worker

Hello, my name is a Senga and I am the keyworker  in the Hedgehog group!

I have worked in childcare for 17 years and joined South Lanarkshire a year past in April, I joined Woodhill ELC in August 2022. I really enjoy being outdoors and in the creative area I have buddied up with Isabell from the Orchard room to work as part of the garden committee which I look forward to.

Outside of work I love spending time with my son Robert who is 7, I enjoy swimming and going on walks, visiting restaurants, going to the cinema and taking my son to Taekwondo and his football training!

Julie Stewart – Early Years Worker

Hello, my name is Julie, I work in the Forest Room (3-5 room) and I am the keyworker of the fox group! I am a busy mum of 4, I enjoy spending time with my children when I’m not working., I enjoy being outdoors and swimming when I’m not running between gymnastics and dancing!

I have 3 years of experience working as a early years practitioner qualifying in June 2019 with HNC in Childhood Practice. I then went on to do a further 2 years night course at college and achieved my HND in Childhood Practice. Hopefully in the future I will go on to complete my degree in Childhood Practice.

I enjoy being outdoors with the children as I believe outdoors and nature is a rich learning environment and has many benefits to the health and wellbeing of the children!

Megan McConnaghy – Early Years Worker

Hello my name is Megan, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and reading in my spare time. I also have a border collie called Molly who I like to go on walks with.

I am a Years Practitioner. Before I started at Woodhill ELC I was an Early Years Modern Apprentice at Larkhall Children’s Centre. I am looking forward to starting my career at Woodhill ELC and meeting all of the children. I am the Key worker for the Badgers group in the Forest Room.

Kelly Meikle – Cleaner/Care Taker

Hello everyone, I’m Kelly and I help to keep the nursery clean, tidy and safe. I start work early in the morning however it is lovely to see everyone arrive for a fun-filled busy day at Woodhill. At the weekend I spend time with my family and enjoy visiting friends for coffee and cake 🙂

Hello Everyone, my name is Marie I am the Catering Assistant at Woodhill ELC, it is lovely to serve up the food for the children in the nursery.  I live at home with my partner and my son.  I like walking, reading books and visiting my friends and family and lastly watching tv.

Amy Melvin – Early Years Worker

Hello! My name is Amy, I am a mum to a cheeky 2 year old boy who I love to spend my days off going on adventures! Our favourite place to visit is the farm seeing all of the animals and tractors. I love cleaning and doing housework having things organised and in their place then cosying up on the couch with a cup of tea and good series.

I have worked in early years for over 10 years with experience of all age groups.
recently I have completed my PDA in childhood practice to further my knowledge! my passion is nurture and attachment, my favourite quote is “every child should be nurtured with great love. The feeling of great love promotes wellness and potential for greatness”. I am the United Nation Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) co-ordinator and Health and Safety Champion. I will be sharing my knowledge of Makaton moving forward! I am based in the Forest Room and my group is called the Squirrel Group

Sharon Harkin – Early Years Worker

Hi my name is Sharon  I am based in the Forest Room and my group are called the Owl group. I have worked at Woodhill ELC since it opened in September 2020, I am a passionate and caring practitioner who wants the best for all of the children. I love literacy especially reading and exploring books. Within the nursery I am one of the Froebelian champions implementing Froebel principles into our nursery practice. I love being indoors and outdoors providing lots of fun exciting opportunities for the children. At home I love spending time with my family and my dog Cali. I like to spend time at my caravan, going camping and walking with my husband and 2 children. I love to reads lots of books!

Hello! my name is Hazel Smith my group is the peaches group in the Orchard room! I started at Woodhill in September 2020 when it first opened and now have 3 years of experience. I started off as a modern apprentice and have experience working will all age groups and particularly enjoy providing messy play experiences for children! I feel most confident when I am planning in the art area and supporting children to become creative! I am currently the transition co-ordinator and literacy champion and would like to further my knowledge in Makaton and Nurture training.

I live at home with my boyfriend Zak and enjoy spending time with him, my friends and my family. I enjoy going out for dinner and watching movies at the cinema. I enjoy doing jigsaws and reading books in my spare time!

Yvonne Jarvis – Depute Head of Establishment

 

My name is Yvonne Jarvis, I am the Depute Head of Establishment here at Woodhill Early Learning and Childcare, I am very passionate about my role in Early Years and love working with the children and families, providing the highest quality of care and education. I have worked for South Lanarkshire Council in a variety of roles within the Early Years Sector for almost 7 years now across Clydesdale, Hamilton and Cambuslang. I live at home with my fiancé Jamie and two Cocker Spaniel dogs Arlo and Ari, we love going on long walks and new adventures together! In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and healthy at the CrossFit and paddle boarding or spending time with my family and friends.
