Monday’s Singing Session – Colours of the Rainbow in Makaton – Promoting Colour Recognition and Development

The children have been interested in learning about colours and how they mix together to create a new colour. This lead on to the children singing the Colours of the Rainbow and learning the names of the colour in Makaton sign language. Can you practice this at home with your family?

Did you know … The ability to identify colours is considered a marker and milestone in a child’s cognitive process. Recognising the colours and identifying the colour names is an important part of a child’s development. Early identification of colours helps to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words.
