Primary 6/7 Term 3
Mr Straiton is delighted to welcome back Primary 6/7 for their third term. We are looking forward to a hardworking few months beginning with our Class Showcase, on the afternoon of the 6th February, related to our WW2 topic.
In Literacy, we continue to progress through our spelling programme, meeting the ever-increasing challenge of our weekly words. In Reading, we will again be using our World War Two topic for inspiration, as we delve into non-fiction texts related to the war which will aid us in our non-fiction writing. We will discuss and research the many difficult issues raised, such as the rise of Nazi propaganda and the persecution of religious groups, as well as Scotland’s contributions to the War effort.
We will be able to build greater knowledge in Health and Wellbeing in relation to understanding the use and misuse of drugs, as well as the importance of having balance in our life to maintain a healthy body and mind.
The 3 maths groups will be building on their learning from term 2. The Circles group will be challenged by much more complex algebra equations, as well as creating their own mathematical formulas to calculate area and perimeter. The Squares group will complete their topic on solving complex word problems moving on to properties of shapes and algebra. The Triangles group are being encouraged to join the squares group, where possible and also continue to build up their skills using the four operations.
