WATCH: Interview With Antonia Lucas From Birds2BHeard
By Scott Macmilllan and Lachlan Donaldson
Birds will be singing to world leaders!
Today we conducted (led) an interview about the project Birds2BHeard with Antonia Lucas, who is part of ‘Making Natural History’.
It was great meeting with Antonia and speaking about the project. The project is about allowing the youth to have a voice in the climate emergency, by creating birds with messages written on them for world leaders.
Over 5,000 birds have already been created, which is 25% of the young people under the age of 18 in Eastbourne. Not only did the young people in Eastbourne create birds but Hillhead High School in Glasgow had also made some.
We believe that the project Birds2BHeard is a great project that allows the youth to put their message across to the decision makers. During the interview, Antonia said that the most common concern from Eastbourne’s youth was “the loss of their own environment”. This shows how damaging climate change is to our environment and that you don’t have to look far to already see global warming’s impact. Even here in the UK!
Birds2BHeard will be marching for climate change in Glasgow on Friday the 5th of November.
Hear what Hillhead High School had to say about Climate Change:
Hillhead High School pupils had spoken very clearly about the issues on climate change and how it is important for young people to get involved.
We have a range of other articles on CEN Newsroom showing how making changes to our own lifestyle can help the environment, for example, changing your diet (the food that you eat) and how that can help reduce global warming (gradual increase of the earths temperature) read all about it by clicking here!
Special thank you to Hillhead High School’s students and staff who had allowed us to use the school for the filming of this interview as well as giving their own view on why tackling climate change is so important.
