COP26 will limit global warming to 1.8 degrees if all pledges are followed.

  • Fatih Birol, the executive director of the IEA, confirmed if every pledge made at COP26 is honoured, it would put the world on track to limit global warming to 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Calls for urgent efforts to increase financing and implementation of adaption to climate change.

  • It is estimated that adaptation costs are 5 to 10 times greater in less developed countries than current public adaptation finance.
  • It is also estimated that 140-300 billion will be spent each year by 2030 to reduce the threat of climate change by funding this adaptation to climate spending.

COP26 is inching Coal closer to being a thing of the past!

  • 23 Countries are making new commitments to phase coal power out completely in the future. This includes 5 of the worlds top 20 coal power generators.
  • New coal generation pipeline plans have fallen 76% since the Paris Agreement and hopefully this number will continue to increase.
