14:30- Prime minister Boris Johnson addresses the house of parliament after returning from COP26

  • The PM thanks the scottish government for hosting the climate summit and acknowledges scotland’s efforts to tackle climate change.
  • However, stands by his decision to reject request funding for the CO2 collection programme in scotland for the time being.

14:00- President of COP26 attends press conference for the event

  • Mr Alok Sharma Believes the event to be a huge success so far.
  • Saying that he sees a wide range of issues being represented throughout the entire conference.
  • The president of the event is trying to solve the issue of the many people attending from all over the world not being allowed in certain areas.

Ex-Thomas Cook pilot speaks out at climate emergency protest in Glasgow 

  • The pilot admitted that the industry turns a blind eye towards their contribution to the climate emergency. 
  • He pushed for companies in these samadhi games industries to make a change and reduce their carbon emissions. 

A group of International development banks announced $10.5 billion fund to help less developed countries make the switch to more renewable sources  

  • The group, Global Emergency Alliance, has already gained $10.5 billion in donations and hope for many more in the weeks to come. 
  • Alliance is aiming for $100 billion in funds to expand that access to clean sources of electricity in developing countries. 
  • The money will support plans such as to develop mini electricity grids in places such as rural India and also help Indonesia shut down some of its oldest and most polluting coal powered plants. 

World’s biggest banks and investors commit to use $130 trillion in assets to hit net zero emissions by 2050 

  • This commitment would make reducing the effects of climate change a main focus in most major financial decisions for the future.
