It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas🎄
Our advent calendar has been donated by a member of the community and contains a wooden Christmas tree decoration. The bairns get to open a story book to read when it is their turn too.
We were asked to make decorations for the Leisure centre so we made a Christmas tree garland, we hope they like it.
The message centre has transformed into a letter writing area with bairns writing to Santa and making secret symbols and messages for our elf, Jingle.
Baking bannocks and washing windows.
The bairns wanted to wash the windows and were delighted to come in to warm bannocks for snack. Both excellent activities for pre-writing development.
We love stories, books, rhymes and songs!
Stories, books rhymes and songs are an important source in promoting early literacy. These can lead to creative, imaginative and open ended play. 📚❤️
Come and look at a book, for every time you open one, a new adventure has begun.
We loved our visit to the Shetland library.
Celebrating the life of Her Majesty the Queen. 👑
The passing of the Queen has raised some questions this week. We joined the whole school for an assembly, led by Mr Spence, this morning. We have discussed the Queen’s long, happy life and that now Prince Charles is King.
The bairns asked what the Queen’s favourite snack was and we found out it was jam sandwiches and chocolate. We made chocolate playdough and had jam sandwiches for snack today.
One of the bairns asked to colour in the Queen and some others asked to make crowns. The bairns also got their books from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee home today, a lovely keepsake.
Snack menu
The bairns have planned their snack menu for the remainder of this term. Any questions or suggestions please contact a member of staff. Snacks are subject to change.
Book bug visit
The bairns love rhyme time. We really enjoyed a Book bug session from Chloe yesterday. We are adding to our rhyme packs and they will hopefully be ready to go home on their library days next week.
