Edinburgh Trip!

Primary 7 couldn’t have asked for a better sailing on the Northlink last night. Flat calm winds and beautiful views of Sumburgh Head and Fairisle.

We’ve made it to Blair Drummond Safari Park and are having the most fantastic time in the playpark next to the Lions.

P4-7’s Fun Fridays

P4-7 have been taking part in Wider Achievement workshops. Friday afternoons are spent developing practical skills around the school to support the development of our young workforce. We have a local artist working with a group line drawing, Shetland Senior Football coaches and players with a group of enthusiastic young footballers, Joy Duncan delivering African drumming sessions, Science teachers from the AHS working on chemical reactions, Mr Rose and his flying workshop, geocaching, photography, journalism club and gardening. Super fun on Fridays!

STEM Workshop – P7b

Primary 7b were recently given the opportunity to learn more about STEM subjects and the careers that they can lead to. We were given the opportunity to program robots to do all kinds of cool things. We learned how to make it move backwards and forwards, lift it’s arm up and down, use a sensor and to do cool displays and make sounds. Robots are able to do many jobs that are too dangerous for people, in the next few years robot use is going to become more and more common so it was great to get the chance to program one!

Outdoor Education

Primary 7b recently enjoyed a fantastic outdoor journey in Kergord Woods. Our spirits were not dampened, despite it being quite a wet day!

We were given oportunites to explore, climb and build dens before settling to a cosy lunch in front of a fire.

It was a fantastic day that none of us are likely to forget in a hurry!
