Our Bowling team took part in the Top Schools Bowling Competition today at the Clickimin Centre. They had a great time and enjoyed their day. Well done to Whiteness Primary School who were the overall winners after a very close final.

Line Dancing
Primary 5 are learning to line dance with the Shetland Western Line Dancers and some of their Grandparents.
UNICEF Day for Change
PREPARING FOR THE DAY we have been preparing for UNICEF Day for Change here at Sound Primary School.The RRSA Steering Group have been going round all the classrooms except P5 and7.We were telling pupils about Typhoon Hiyian.We did an assembly to P5 and7 .We were at the nursery to do 2 talks ,to the am and pm groups.We also had to set up a dance~a~thon and put jars round the school.
ON THE DAY
We have had a dance~a~thon in the school gym.All the classes had a time to go.The am nursery with P6 and the pm nursery went with the RRSA group.Our school does a lot about UNICEF.The RRSA group have worked hard and I hope they always do.

Euroquiz Winners!
We are so proud of our Euroquiz team “Sound Sixes” who won the Shetland heats of Euroquiz at Islesburgh this morning. Well done all of you!
Fiddle & Accordion Festival
Our fiddle group, led by their tutor Lois Nicol played at the Junior concert at the Fiddle & Accordion festival in October. They played Starry Nights in Shetland and the Four Poster Bed. They were fantastic!
Christmas at Sound
All our classes have been busy getting ready for Christmas. We’ve had a lovely Christmas dinner in the canteen accompanied by Christmas songs and impromptu singing and dancing by some very excited Primary 7s. We wore our Christmas Jumpers on Friday 12 December for Christmas Jumper day and we raised a grand total of £231 for Save the Children. ThePrimary 1s and 2s sung beautifully in their Christmas Concert and Primary 3s were stars in their performance of ‘Christmas with the Aliens’. P4, 5 and 6 have beenpreparing Carols for our School Carol Service and they’ve been busy with lots of craft activities including Hot Chocolate Reindeers and Snow Globes . P7’s time has been taken up with Panto rehearsals and the performance which was ‘awesome’ according to an over-excited audience member. They managed to raise £726.44 to go towards the cost of their trip to Edinburgh in May.
Junior Road Safety Officers
Our JRSOs were out with the Police on the Sound Brae using the speed gun. We wanted to see the speed that drivers were going past our school. We thought that most drivers were very cautious and aware of the speed limits around the school.
Buddies
Our Primary 7s and Primary 1s have buddied up. They meet up with their buddies on Monday afternoons and read stories, play games and have lots of fun!

Road Safety Week
Everyone at Sound Primary School has been enjoying Road Safety week. This year we have decided to remind people to Stop When You See the Lollipop! Our Nursery-P2 classes designed new Lollipops for Mr Webster and Mrs Moar, our Lollipop people. P3 and 4 designed new jackets for them and P5-7 made posters to raise awareness of our campaign.
Our Junior Road Safety Officers have been very busy reading Ziggy stories to the Nursery and Primary 2. They have also been organising competitions to help promote our campaign this year.
