Quendale Mill, Bigton Playpark and Sands of Sound

What an amazing day we have had in P5A.

This morning we went down to the Quendale Mill and had a great time being shown around by John and completing a scavenger hunt.

After that we went to Bigton playpark which was brilliant. We enjoyed eating our packed lunches in the sun.

Finally, we got back to Lerwick and spent the afternoon at Sands of Sound – some of us got very wet!

States of Water

Today we have been learning about the three states of water – solid, liquid and gas.

We put liquid water into a kettle, and watched as it turned to gas. We also saw how a big block of solid water (ice) melted into water in our classroom.

We had fun acting as molecules to show how these changes take place.

Well done to Ella, who was our photographer!

Water Cycle Experiments

This week we have begun to learn about the water cycle. This is the continuous process where water evaporates, travels into the air and becomes part of a cloud, falls down to earth as precipitation, and then evaporates again.

In our home teams, we designed a diagram and added blue water. We taped them to the window and have been able to watch the process in action!
