States of Water

Today we have been learning about the three states of water – solid, liquid and gas.

We put liquid water into a kettle, and watched as it turned to gas. We also saw how a big block of solid water (ice) melted into water in our classroom.

We had fun acting as molecules to show how these changes take place.

Well done to Ella, who was our photographer!

Generation Science

This morning we were lucky to have a visit from Generation Science who are part of the Edinburgh Science Festival. They performed for about fifty minutes, in a fun interactive show where we learned about electricity and renewable energy.

We had lots of fun!

Our Wonderful Water Cycle Display

This afternoon we worked really hard in teams to create an amazing water cycle display to show our learning. We used paint, tissue paper and glue!

We are so proud of our finished display!

Water Cycle Experiments

This week we have begun to learn about the water cycle. This is the continuous process where water evaporates, travels into the air and becomes part of a cloud, falls down to earth as precipitation, and then evaporates again.

In our home teams, we designed a diagram and added blue water. We taped them to the window and have been able to watch the process in action!

Today with Miss Che we learned how to write Mandarin numbers using calligraphy. Miss Che showed us how to hold the brush correctly. We used magic paper to write with water. It was magic because our writing disappeared! We really enjoyed it!
