Art Lesson

In Art Primary 5 have been learning to form clay to create a coil pot. First we needed to roll out the clay to create a good strong base.

We then had to roll out long worm shapes to make the coils to build the sides of the pot.

We needed to be careful to blend in out joins to make it look neat.

Once we had added at least 4 coils we then spent time smoothing the pot to ensure it neat and has a good surface to paint on.

In Art P5 have been using Styrofoam to create a snowman block print.  First we came up with an image of a snowman then transferred it onto the Styrofoam, pressing into it with a pencil to create an indent.

We then had a block which could be used to produce many prints and make Christmas cards. The class really enjoyed this project, learning about the process of rolling, inking and printing.

Here are the first prints they took from their block….

Art Lesson

In Art P5 have been learning about the artist Eric Carle and trying to create mini beasts using his textures collage technique.

First, we researched and designed our mini beast before deciding on a shape.

We then explored paint and used different applicators to create different textures.

The following week we cut shapes, layered and collaged to create our mini beast.

To finish them off we used pipe cleaners and oils pastels.

Great work P5!
