Star Writer

Miss Irvine had a tough job choosing who the star writer would be. All the Christmas poems were fantastic. Mairianne tried really hard to include lots of interesting descriptions and adjectives and so she was made star writer. Well done Mairianne! My favourite line was:

‘Christmas looks like snow shimmering on a dazzling frozen lake.’

Cake Decorating After School Club!

Last week we had our first week of cake decorating after school club. It was great to have some of the bairns from Urafirth Primary School here to join in the fun! We were decorating cupcakes. We used buttercream icing, we had to pipe the icing onto our cakes. We rolled out fondant icing to make the decorations, there were different Christmas cutters to choose from, Christmas trees, stars, snowflakes and holly. We decorated our cupcakes then finished them off with some edible glitter – it wouldn’t be Christmas without plenty of glitter! Vaila is the GLITTER QUEEN! Her cupcakes were the most sparkly cupcakes any of us had ever seen!

Science Experiment

Today we tested different metals in a circuit to see if our metals conducted electricity. We needed a light bulb, some wires, crocodile clips and a battery. We found out that aluminium, copper, brass and iron conduct electricity really well but steel doesn’t work as good as the others.
