Cake Decorating After School Club
Last week was week 2 of cake decorating after school club. It was a tricky week, we were making Christmas fondant figures. The bairns did really well shaping the fondant to make a santa and a snowman. I think Mary Berry would be very impressed with them!

Star Writer
Miss Irvine had a tough job choosing who the star writer would be. All the Christmas poems were fantastic. Mairianne tried really hard to include lots of interesting descriptions and adjectives and so she was made star writer. Well done Mairianne! My favourite line was:
‘Christmas looks like snow shimmering on a dazzling frozen lake.’

Christmas Senses Poem
We wrote Christmas poems based on the 5 senses. We planned our poems together on the interactive whiteboard so that we could share some good ideas then we each wrote our own poem individually. Miss Irvine was very impressed with the poems.

Cake Decorating After School Club!
Last week we had our first week of cake decorating after school club. It was great to have some of the bairns from Urafirth Primary School here to join in the fun! We were decorating cupcakes. We used buttercream icing, we had to pipe the icing onto our cakes. We rolled out fondant icing to make the decorations, there were different Christmas cutters to choose from, Christmas trees, stars, snowflakes and holly. We decorated our cupcakes then finished them off with some edible glitter – it wouldn’t be Christmas without plenty of glitter! Vaila is the GLITTER QUEEN! Her cupcakes were the most sparkly cupcakes any of us had ever seen!

African Drumming
We had so much fun this afternoon when Joy Duncan came into our school to teach us African Drumming. We learned about beat and rhythm. We can’t wait to improve our skills over the next 5 weeks!
